Get it, you AND your wife will love it. For trenches, have one operator on the tractor the other on the hoe, and it'll go much faster... You can learn together and swap, its fun!

Not nearly so easy as to put them in a big pile and burn them. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif If you really want to justify your backhoe, you could always dig a shallow hole, burn the stumps in that and then cover back over.

Try finding a used BH90! You won't... But if you do, it'll be only a little higher than the new one will cost you on the 0% financing... So get it, use it, and pretend like you'll sell it someday...

I put a Woods 9000 hoe on my L3710 a year ago...and it hasn't been OFF since! Of course, most of it's work has been building my son's house, but still, the hoe is so useful!
We did a 250 ft utility (3 pipes) trench for his house in less than a day. I dug the trench (4 feet deep) moving the tractor along with the hoe bucket and boom. After I got about half way, my son and his farther in-law began laying and cementing the three pipes...we got to the street end at about the same time. Back filling was even easier...I ran the tractor and my son ran the hoe....as we say up this way, slicker than snot on a rubber boot. The job was done in no time. I'd say your trench being longer might take a day and a half.
I haven't encountered a rock or stump I couldn't handle, but you have to realize your hoe isn't a 50 or 100 ton excavator. As mother used to say, 'take smaller bites and chew'. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Anyways, as others have said, go for it. You won't regret it. Worse case scenerio, use if for what you need then sell it. You should get a good price for it.

Digging the utility line trench - no problem 4' deep x18" wide , x 100 feet would take me 1/2 day or so, you would be faster with the bigger tractor.
Digging a foundation? - maybe for a walkout where you can use the loader for most of the work - digging trenches and footers isn't a problem, but digging a whole basement foundation will most likely be beyond what that hoe can do. Bring in an excavator for a day. He can dig in the hole and pile on the other side, where you'll need to move that dirt several times. Same goes for an inground pool unless it is small.
But - get the hoe - you'll regret it the first time you have a hole to dig and you have to choose between a shovel and paying someone else.

I know how much I've found to do with my BH, and I'm sure you will too. Over the years that you own the tractor, the extra cost of the BH will not seem so much as it does for the 3 years of financing, but it'll be worth it. Just price out having stumps removed as opposed to ground down. You'll quickly see that the BH will save you money. John

It makes all the difference in the world to have a full-size LBH. I paid $500 to have my walkout foundation dug and I couldn't keep up with hauling all the dirt that came flying out of the hole. Richard has just the machine for doing those big jobs. I think his breakout force is somewhere around 6,000#. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

I can change my pins "pressure/connection" point to alter geometry.
Not intending to correct you, just pointing out that it's a capable machine to dig holes for my wifes day lillies and other than a trench for drain pipe (and LOTS & LOTS of stumps) has done more work above ground, than beneith it.
Anyone want to get into a day lilly planting race? (other than Nomad with his mega-Brutus JCB killing monster machine?)

Once you have had a tractor with a backhoe, without it is like a tractor without a FEL. There are lots of times I'm working with the FEL and I need something a little bit smaller, so I just turn the tractor around and BAM!..........nice.
