Mith,

The prices were the overall price. However, living in N. Ireland I had to arrange my own delivery. I bought it unwittingly just at the start of the foot and mouth problems. What a dilemma that turned out to be. Steve had agreed to leave the tractor to the liverpool boat for me to be picked up the other side. Then we found out that the government vets were not allowing the transport of any agricultural machinery without a certificate of cleaning, even if it had never been on a farm.
We had to source a certified government vet to issue a certificate for the tractor after they had observed it get chemically cleaned, with a specialist "fungicide" This cost about £60 and another £125 for the boat. In all it delayed delivery about 3 weeks. Throughout it all Steve was friendly and patient. I cannot say enough for the man. He did sterling work for me without knowing me at all.

The photographs were the only time the tractor was ever really clean. I had washed and polished it and advertised it on e-bay with those photos.

SCH trailers are pricey, but there is not much choice available at that size, unless you can make your own. The local machinery dealer was able to get some wholesale discount which he passed on to me. The web-site prices could be considered a guide /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I have only one bad point about the tractor, it has a very slow glow plug response. It never once failed to start, but on a few frosty mornings, I had to hold the glows on for about 3 minutes. Even on a warm day, the machine would not restart without the glows if left switched off for more than 10 minutes. Perhaps I had faulty glow plugs, I never got them tested.

Surprisingly for circa a 20 yr old tractor, parts were still available. My regional Kubota dealer, (who charges Kubota prices /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif ) was able to get me a fuel pump when the one on the machine went. My fault for running it dry and then shorting the old pump when trying to bleed it /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif
Apparently some of the front mounted mowers still use the same 2 cylinder engine. He also had a 1970's B6000 in his showroom with less than 5hrs use. Bought it and just kept for display.

sound like a bit of a cufuffle with the foot and mouth and expensive too
even taking that bast price for the grade C im still better off and get a free mower /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
the glow plugs on the one i saw - he had them on for about 30 secs thatn it fired right up - i guess you ones may have been faulty
i see on the sch trailer it is hydraulic - how do these plumb in, is it easy, is it run off the 3pt linkage hydraulics
thanks for all you help /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Yes Mith,

The hydraulics for the trailer were single acting. Basically there is a conection hole on the 3pt control valve just below the seat. Some black iron threaded plumbing pipe and fittings, terminating in a standard quick release coupler.

Using the 3pt control lever, when the arms raised to their max height, pressure was diverted to the trailer and it tipped.
Drop the control lever, the oil returned under the weight of the trailer body and once down the arms would drop as normal.

The tractor was expensive compared to the price you are quoting, but then I sold mine on at a better price too. Too be honest I broke even on the cost of tractor and trailer /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
Free tractoring for 2 yrs /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

was it hard to sell - that was my plan for if it didnt work out
i would do a job for say £100 then sell it for 1100 making a 200 profit for no effort really
maybe i should be a dealer /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
still thnks for the info on the hydro - a trailer would be a nice thing to have /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

( I think Kubota is stuck on that 300 lb capacity on the 3ph.)

If you look carefully in the manuals, most have a static lift number that is much higher than the pounds recommended for implements. They never list implement weight maximums for implements which are used while sitting still (chipper/shredders, generators, etc.). Weight maximums are listed only for things which are used in motion. If a 3ph is rated at 1200 lb. static lift but the manual recommends a brush hog max weight of only 300 lb, it's because you can easily cause much more than 300 lb. of downward force on the 3ph. Let's say you put a 1150 lb. rough cutter on your tractor and it does lift. Now you let your immature nephew take the tractor out but he decides to joy ride it, heading straight perpendicular to your furrows and then across the 2' ditch at the end of your field at full speed. When the rig bounces on the furrows, and especially on the ditch, that bounce may put 3 or 4 g-forces on the cutter (the fact that the cutter is so long also leverages the force). Now you have 2 tons of force on the 3ph and it fails. A 3ph which can lift 1200 lb. but has a 300 lb. implement, probably will not fail if abused like this. A 500 lb. one might fail. Kubota doesn't want the liability for this kind of poor judgement so they follow the lawyers' advice and list a max. weight which is unlikely to fail under such abuse. You can lift and use much more weight than the implement max. recommendations, all the way up to the number given for static lift capacity, just use wise judgement and don't put yourself in a situation where bouncing could lead to too much force.

No trouble selling.

I think if I had advertised it locally and had set a higher price, I could probably have got it as there are few of them about. But I might have had to wait longer for a sale.

I think it is very rare to make a profit with machinery. I usually am happy if I can get a few years use out of the item whatever it may be, and when sold am happy that it did my job and cost me nothing.

I think you will be happy with it, it is a tough old tractor. If you ever need any info, drop me a line, I still have the original service manual for it.
