To fly Oct 1st you need "Real ID"

If you do a lot of international travel, just go ahead and get GlobalEntry. It's through CBP, gets you Pre-Check on all domestic flights, rapid re-entry into the US when arriving home on international flights and they issue you a perfectly acceptable, REAL ID compliant, passport photo identification card which can be used for domestic travel. Then you don't need your license to be one too.

I opted for the passport card this past fall when I renewed my passport. I can leave my much more valuable passport locked up at home and keep the card on my person for ID. On occasion I need a second form of ID for Government vendors, so its handy.

Darn ugly though. Anybody else have one? They look like a fake ID sold at the dollar store for fun.

It happens enroute to CANADA all the time.

I would allow them the possibility to retreive their passport. No passport, I would send them to a contracted third world jail for five years, then send them back from where they came.

Depending on the destination outside of US territories...a passport will suffice for personal identification BUT...there may be several other documents required to board some international flights...

Texas has been issuing real ID drivers license since 2016. My DL is a real ID indicated by the gold star.

The RealID upcoming requirement signs have been posted at TSA security checkpoints for at least a couple of years now. I see them all the time.

I see by this site that Oregon is, not surprisingly, one of four states who have either dug in their heels or frittered their time away to get compliant. While I'm not concerned with the air travel aspect, I am somewhat worried about what might happen if one is called for federal jury duty.
While noone can compel you to use an airline, a jury summons is a different matter. It might be interesting to show up at the courthouse in Eugene, be denied entrance by the blue shirted goon, call the clerk of court on the jury summons and have her come down and explain why you can't come serve. Of course that would result in a wasted day and travel and parking expenses unreimbursed because you were never signed in, so the best course would be to write "Unable to comply due to Oregon's inability to find time in 14 years to do one simple thing right." on the summons and send it back.

My wife just renewed her license. She got to the DPS office and no one was in line. However, she did not know of the new requirements for documents so she had to go home to get them. By the time she got back there was a long line.

She had to furnish her DL that was not expired, her passport or birth certificate to prove citizenship, proof of residency (insurance card with address worked), proof of registration for all vehicles, and proof of insurance. According to the DPS website proof of registration and proof of insurance are for persons surrendering an out of state DL or first time registrants. However, since they are issuing her the Real ID for the first time it seems like they treated her like a first time applicant.
