On 2-27-10.
Got 1.5 hours on the BX1500 with 60 front blade with Hyd lift and angle and a 48'' rear tiller for ballast .
Snow was a good 3 t 4 " or possibly more.
I have AG tires that are not filled and no chains .
No problem with traction.
This thing is a snow moving son of a gun.
***********
Today 2/28/2010.
1.01 hours on the BX23 cleaning up snow piles created by the BX1500 yesterday .

Actually yesterdays seat time. Tried to put a pallet of skidder chain out behind the wood pile and sunk the tractor to the X's. Then threw on the spring rake to clean the sand from the edge of the lawn. None of this is supposed to happen at the first of March!

Todays seat time will begin with seeing if ground froze enough during the night to finish moving pallet of chain.

Some of us hoping it will be cold enough overnight to freeze the ground solid enough to let us tractor above the mud while some of us are hoping for less severe overnight lows to encourage early growth of grass in the pastures and some faster drying.

I'm just so thankful the mud which was getting so bad as to make putting out round bales by tractor a challenge has dried enough so you can drive parts of the pastures without making ruts. I was able to load 50 gal drums of feed from the barn to a pickup with the Harbor Freight barrel grabber in what was a few days ago a foot of mud and water but yesterday was quite solid.

A temporary situation as more rain is forecast real soon now. Our ground is saturated, all 12 of our ponds are full, and any additional precipitation will just make for surface mud and run off (and erosion.) Still, the climatological gurus are proclaiming a dry spring so I expect to be wishing for rain in a couple months when the dust is blowing.

Picked up lots of sticks and brush to get ready for first mowing of season. Still have water standing in some areas of the yard. Serviced mower deck....sharpened blades and upgraded gear box to Amsoil GL5 gear oil.

I got an hour on the BX23 and my wife got another hour on the BX1500.
This was the first mowing of this year.

Fortunately we've not had to mow yet up here. Just got the Sunstar back from it's yearly check-up on Friday. I did spend about an hour today grading the bottom half of the drive. It's in sore need of some gravel.

Spent about an hour at my Dads with the T2220 pushing large piles of wood chips the kiddos had been using to jump the bicycles off. Spread it thin across the fields and then hit it with the home made spring rake. The chips seem to hold moisture and give the grass a chance to grow in the exposed sandy areas left over from when the area was mined of the top 40' of soil for the construction of I-95 back in the sixties.

Welcome spring!
