Crossbeam like you said would prob be the best. Finding the balance point and having it suspended would be easier and safer to insert or remove the pins as opposed to lifting with a machine.

I figured 2 cross beams or drop down legs on the back would be easier then trying to balance it.

The table’s a beauty!

That is a beautiful table, I applaud your craftsmanship.
We had to buy a new table this year, I don't have the patience or craftsmanship to create that nice of a unit.
It looks similar to the one we just bought with all the leaves in it's a 10 footer, with the leaves out a 6 footer.
I have to contact the sellers again to see how they are coming with the resolution of the issues we have with it.
The base is fixed and the top racks out to add the leaves, but it gets wobbly when fully extended they are supposed to be
making an extendable base to go with it.
A picture of ours, it's a Hickory topped unit.

I’ve never liked the tables with leaves in the middle. They’re just not very solid. I can sit in the middle of my table and bounce with no deflection. For that matter 3 or 4 people could bounce on the middle. Thanks for the kind words on the table. I’ve always liked hickory hardwood flooring because of how much color it has but I’ve also hated working with it.
