i change my fuel filter twice a year on the b3030, i have never lost more than a cup full of fuel by just making sure the fuel cap is on tight.

Work,
The fuel caps for the BX25 and B3030 are two different animals. Attached is a pic of the underside for both caps--the bigger one being the BX25. Your manual for the B3030 advises that you change the fuel filter with the tank at half-full or less. I suspect that if you changed the filter with a full tank, you would end up with 3 gallons of fuel on the ground. Note the small air vents on the underside of your cap. Cranking the cap down doesn't plug these vents.

I guess I should look at my B26 to see if it has a shutoff valve. I would think that all equipment with overhead fuel tank would have a shutoff valve at the tank. My old 84 Yanmar had one, and even the tractors as old as 8N Fords had valves to shut in the fuel for maintenance of carbs and filters. I guess that is just another cost saving for the manufacturers that cost the consumer much more in the long run. A couple gallons of fuel lost would more than pay for a valve not to mention the enviro damage.

The fuel filter on my 2630 automatically shuts off the fuel flow when the filter bowl is unscrewed. There is a spring loaded tube that sits on the flange of the bowl. I would have thought the 3030 would be the same so you wouldn't have lost more than a cup anyways?

I thought all of the Kubota's had that automatic shut off as long as the tank was less than 1/2 full to be below the return hose.. Maybe not.

A while back there was a thread on use of different tools. One idea was to use a vacuum cleaner on the inlet. Used the idea to change a plug on the bottom of an International saddle tank and never lost a drop.

I bet the vacuum works well. I've used it to hold crankcase oil in whole changing cracked plug gaskets. Even works on large oil capacity engines. Can't see why it wouldn't work. Of course it will pull some air into the tank side of the lines. Not sure how that might work.
