too big?

Yep Same theory applies to chainsaws and firearms. It would have to be a pile of junk for me to part with either of the later two.

add tractor attachments to the list. The only time it is acceptable to get rid of an attachment is if you are going to upgrade.

To the O.P. have you considered renting a tractor of this size with an attachment or two and seeing what you think. it could save you thousands in the long run if you decided you want something smaller or bigger?

Well folks I went down to the local MF dealer today to drive a 1736 wound up buying a1635 that was returned off of a 1 year lease that has 60hrs on it with all the bells and whistles including rear wheel weights. Couldn't get passed the goofy pedal assembly on the Kubota and the JD seemed so cheap and cheesy with all that plastic. Not to mention the fact that the MF has almost double the lifting power and is a thousand pounds heavier than the JD. Pretty sure I made the right choice......

Didn't the OP pick his tractor already?

He bought a lease return.

When I was considering purchasing a tractor, I had never considered leasing. I didn't know that was an option. I compared purchase to short term rentals, which was not going to fit my project purposes. I wonder what the annual cost of leasing is?

I'm still curious how a tractor lease works.

I hope his purchase works well for him too.

There is a class of people with nothing to do and all day to do it, in which a smaller tractor would allow them to knock out what they want to accomplish (eventually), save some money, and keep them busy. Like this guy who swore off his 500hp cars to drift a 100 hp beater like a pro.

And then there are people that know they really just don't need all that to do what they want/need to get done. Like the 500hp car. Do you need a 707hp hellcat to go back and forth to work in? no. Is it fun to show it off to your friends and say look what I have spend $69k on, I guess so. Or you could be like the guy in the video and know you don't need all that to do what you want, and to do it very well.....but some people just need that 707hp to make up for lack of skills or perhaps something else in other areas.

Sheesh! Since when did this website become a car enthusiast bashing website!

I enjoy anything with an engine, cars, motorcycles, tractors, even my weed whacker.

Right now I'm enjoying a very fast, non-descript 4-door sedan. Most don't know anything about it. Those who do are a car enthusiast like me.

Seems many of those who comment as above are lacking in other areas?

I agree any machine can do anything given the time and desire to do it.

But many here would say there is no such thing as too big.
Until you try to fit an 82" wide tractor between fenders 78" apart.

This thread should win an award for typos.

Given enough time, any tractor can dig a pond. This fellow dung one with a Kioti CK20. <snip>

You would wear a tractor out here trying to dig a pond. The ground is rally hard!

Yep Same theory applies to chainsaws and firearms. It would have to be a pile of junk for me to part with either of the later two.

I tried to get him to fix his "dung" pond, but he didn't get the hint.:confused3:

Same here....but mine says Police Interceptor on the back.....that thing is stupid fast and will eat the chargers lunch.

Did not know I was bashing.

So what is your non descript car....you are a long way away I will not look for you. :)

And why not comment on anything....from typos to cars....it is all in fun with a little help tossed in....unless you are in the welding area that place is hostile.
