Did you check the manual? I don't have a BX, but the manual for my B something about pinning the MMM in the up position to the tractor. There are vertical brackets on the mower which should meet up to brackets on the underside of the tractor to pin the mower in place. then the 3ph lift arms are free to move without dropping the mower. Obviously have to drop it to mow.

At least that's how it sounded in the manual. Just read it, haven't done it, and may be wrong/ not applicable to BXs.

G/L

Yes, on the BX you just raise the MMM all the way up, move the mowing height control knob to the "TOP" position, and the mower will lock up and leave the 3pt free to move.

But you can't as easily lock the 3pt and move the MMM. You can do it, but you have to disconnect the link arms from the lift arms and pin the link arms to the bracket on the frame that is made for that, as Chris mentioned above. Then the lower arms will just hang up there in place.

Edit: TripleR beat me to it. :)

I see what you are talking about. I will try it. Thanks.
I see you have some auxiliary hydraulics added. Did you do this yourself, or what.

Putting the mower deck in the "Top" position locks the deck up. That will not keep your box blade from falling.

Have you thought about a quick hitch?

I don't think the 3ph lift arms have a Top stop as the mower deck does. I tried the chain method, but the mower deck stops when the bb stops, and judging by the tension in the lifting strap i was using for a chain, the 3ph lift arms are actually powered down, not just gravity. I appreciate the suggestions and would welcome any others.

I've owned every BX model made and almost all of the B models and one L model Kubota. If you have one that is powered down and not just gravity drop I have to say you have a very rare model. In fact, it may be a one of a kind for Kubota.

Joe, just a suggestion to improve the adventure of mowing. The BX is a whole different machine if you remove the loader and the implements when you mow. If you have a smooth floor where you can store the implments, an inexpensive furniture dolly from Harbor Freight, TSC, etc., maybe with one or two lengths of 2x4, makes attaching/detaching/storing/moving them easy and quick.

That's my old BX1860 in the pic's. I did add the hydraulics myself, but from a kit that Kubota sells for later model BX's except those with the backhoe (ie., BX24, BX25, BX25d. The kit is pretty slick and wasn't too hard to install. The valve mounts to the side of the transmission and the levers to open/close the dual circuits come up through that open slot on the right side fender. The kit won't fit the backhoe models since the BH subframe interferes with where the valve gets mounted. However, I put together an aftermarket solution for my BX25 with the valve mounted to the right-side ROPS. Not as elegant but works just the same.

Anyway, if you ever want to add the rear hydraulics, see a Kubota salesperson, not parts. It's a wholegoods item and needs to be ordered through the sales dept.

I have only used my mmm twice now but was wondering the same thing. I bought a quick hitch to make removing th implements easier. Was a great idea but its so easy to just back up, lower, unhook and drive away that I left the pto shaft on the tractor and smashed my transmission up real bad. So much for easy, I saved myself five minutes and lost he tractor for two weeks. Did I read correctly you have a backhoe for your 2660? I was told I couldn't do that at the dealer. Is it a woods or another brand other than kubota?

I got the backhoe from a company called "Value Leader" on the net. It fits on the 3ph and runs off the pto. It has it's own hydraulic pump.
It is clearly not the finest piece of equipment that is out there, but at 750 lbs, the 2660 can carry it fairly easily, and it is really inexpensive compared to other similar backhoes.
I had to do a minor modification on the top link of the hoe, and considerably shorten the driveshaft to make it work. The seat on the hoe is really tight against the rops, so I usually operate it while standing between the stabilizers and the tractor. For digging up stumps, doing drainage, etc. it works fine. It is easy to attach and detach, and will work on just about any tractor with a 3ph and pto.

Could you give some more details on how it works and some pics of it mounted on your three point? I found the web site and it has a lot of good pics, but it just looks a little fragile?

I have a BX2230D and this sounds like the perfect solution for me. I need to dig a lot of holes for trees, clean out about 150 feet of ditch, do some wall building (moving some rocks and terracing the hill side beside the house) and need to bury a couple of 55 gallon drums for some underground water storage. Do you think it could handle that? Appreciate any further info one this.
