Just bought a tiller from tractor supply co.-it's made by king kutter-all gear drive with a slip clutch and appears pretty heavy duty in comparison to a few other tillers i've looked at.I'm wondering if any of you have used one of these or a similiar 60" tiller on a b2710.I'm not sure of the weight (I think around 600lbs) but am wondering if it's too much since the manual recommends a max of 50" and weight of 550 lbs.Haven't tried it yet -I think i'll wait for some feedback first.Thanks.

Dan,

My NH TC18 (18.5 hp) will handle/is rated for a 60" tiller, are you sure you read your manual correctly? A New Holland TC25 is also rated up to 60" and the TC29 is rated for 72". I know my 3 pt. lift capacity is rated higher than similar Kubota's but I can't imagine yours not handling that tiller?

Good Luck, JimBinMI

Dan I bought one of these tillers this spring & got to use it for the first time last night. I have a JD4400 & it handled it great. I know the 4400 is bigger & has 8 more horse power than the 2710, but I could not tell when I droped it in the ground. The dirt is clay & it worked great. Good Luck. Chris

I've noticed that 50" rating in the owner's manual, but the sales brochure lists several Kubota tillers available for the B2710, up to and including a 57" one. And if I could afford it, I'd trade my 40" that I bought 5 years ago for the B7100 for a 60" in a minute to use with the 2710. Since the outer edges of the rear tire tread is about 54", I think the tiller should be at least that wide. My cousin bought a new 62" tiller for his New Holland TC29, and doesn't everyone know if a 29 hp New Holland will handle 62", a 27 hp Kubota ought to handle 80"?/w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif/w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

DanB, I have the same exact KK tiller for my 2710. handles it very well indeed. a friend also has one, who uses it on a 4200. 2 things before you try it. check the gear oil in both locations, grease the fittings, and check the pto shaft length for your setup. mine came shipped without fluids andI had to cut off some of the pto shaft.

Thanks guys.I'll start tilling as soon as the weather clears up!.I've cleared approx. 2 acres of ground that I plan to till and seed. Many of the larger stumps (12-24" dia)i ground down 6-8" below the surface but the roots remain. The plan is to box blade and rip most of them out but inevitably i'm gonna hit a few with the tiller-should i worry about this or do you think the tiller can handle them
without difficulty.?

Dan, like any tiller we use and sell here in N.Y. it should just jump up and down for you unless one of those roots come to close to the surface and gets caught on the tines, but that is why you have the slip clutch.

Dan, it's hard to say. You'll find another thread here about broken tines and replacing them, so there's no doubt it can happen. Five years ago, when I got this little Bush Hog tiller, I worried about hitting roots and stumps, and I've really hit a lot of them, too, (along with rocks and bricks, etc.) but when I have the tiller just jumps and bounces and I've never had a problem or broken anything.

I've got a 6' Agric tiller that's chain drive but very heavy. I've had it bounce around on roots, stumps, and rock and the only thing I've ever broken was a few bolts holding the tines on. It'll come completely out of the ground, though, if it hits something big enough and hard enough.
