Jim,

You're, of course, right on the toothbar. It will only attach to the front cutting edge of the 4in1 and will work effectively only when used as a bucket. I'm getting one for the 4in1 and the HD bucket as I see alot of use for these nifty attachments in the work I'll be doing on my place....but, based on everything shared here at TBN I was convinced I needed these.

Bill,

As it stands right now, I'm getting $1,000 of the $1,200 off the previously agreed upon price I negotiated with the dealer. Go back when you have a chance and review the thread on JD Special Offers. Folks here know what they're talking about. Get your dealer to explain in detail why he's not giving you back at least $1,000 if not the full $1,200. You bought a 4x10 series tractor like Jim and I did and you got at least two attachments... that qualifies you for the $1,000 the way I read the rebate offer on JD's website.

Sounds like you're well on your way with everything else. When you have a chance post here or drop me a private e-mail with the more specific questions you have on the 4th and 5th SCVs.

Look forward to when we all have our tractors. Then, we can talk from practical experience rather than theory. Catch you later.

Jim-

What a great looking rig! I bought a JD750 back in 1986 and it has never been back to the dealer for any repairs. Hope you have as good luck with your new toy as I have had. That backhoe looks awesome! Thinking of trying to rig a 4-in-1 bucket to my new Kelly loader I just installed. Your's looks great! Have fun ripping out all those stumps and rocks.

Rockyroad...
"I bought a JD750 back in 1986 and it has never been back to the dealer for any repairs".

Thanks for the comments... WOW talk about a good tractor! 16+ years of trouble free service! I would certainly be thrilled with that kind of reliability!
Is there anything special you do to it/for it?

Thanks again...

Jim-

No, I have never done anything special. I change the oil, grease the fittings, change the hydraulic fluid, etc. In all of that time I have put in one new battery and replaced the voltage regulator on the firewall. That's it. I keep it in the barn I had to build for it after I bought the tractor so that it never is left outside. It is really in great condition (no rust, etc). I have not really babied it at all. I have a Kuhn rototiller I use on the back, and it has hit it's share of Rhode Island boulders and stones on my property. Has had no effect at all on the tractor. The only thing I have NOT done that I am goint to do this weekend is to add that special additive to the antifreeze that stops the cavitation problem that causes cylinder liner erosion. I learned all about that here on TractorByNet. The dealer never told me about this.
Happy tractoring!

rancar,
What brand is the toothbar(s) that you are getting from Mark? Price?
I Ordered a MX5 "Rotary Cutter" from Mark and I might as well pickup the toothbar for the 4 in 1 at the same time.

Jim,

Not sure of the brand or company that makes it. Ask Mark on this. I saw a picture of the toothbars elsewhere in one of these threads from someone else who purchased from KC-Canary. It looked very similar in quality and appearance to the ones sold by Carver and Longs in North Carolina.

Price will vary depending on type and size of toothbar. Following is the choices and prices that Mark should give you for the 4in1 for the 60" bucket:

o Standard duty (rated lift <5,000lbs.; operating weight <7,600lbs.) @ $266.
o Heavy duty (rated lift <8,000lbs.; operating weight <32,000lbs) @$327

I'm getting the standard duty bar for the 4in1 bucket and the heavy duty bar for the regular 73" HD bucket. Both have replaceable points. Mark was suggesting I wouldn't need more than standard duty for the buckets...but he doesn't know what types of projects I have planned so I decided to play it save and go with the HD toothbar on the HD bucket. Hope this helps.

MX5 should serve your needs well with the 4310. I'm getting the MX6 for the 4710.

Congratulations! I like your choices and wish I had your outfit. Last fall I bought a used (80 hour) 4200 MFWD with FEL & BH out of an estate. I'd been looking at the 4300 but I just couldn't pass up this deal (less than half of new). /w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif

Your 4-in-1 bucket is something I really wish I had. /w3tcompact/icons/sad.gif My next additions are a couple tow hooks for the top of my bucket and a tooth bar for it. Maybe next spring on the 4-in-1. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

THanks for the Congrats! So far 18 hours in the seat and I am sooooo glad I went for the 4 in 1 Bucket. Just cleaning up the winter damage brought a smile to my face each and every time I didn't have to climb down out of the seat to put something into the bucket... it was (is) great. So far I have "plucked" out little stumps... carried off larger stumps (and about 20 large rocks) that I dug up with the BH.
Due to all of the rain we have had lately (ground is saturated) I am really glad I went for the oversized R4's.
