Personally, I'm not a fan of loaded wheels, because of two reasons: a) direct moisture in contact with the rims, especially the level and thus, potential leaking purposes and b) I really don't want the unnecessary weight of the tires on my grass during "non-loader" work. Essentially, once you get loaded wheels then you can plan to do every chore with additional weight.

I have been pleased with a box-scraper (290 lbs), additional 140 lbs in suitcase weighs hanging on the box and if needed, run a 50lb pastic weight per rear wheel.

A can of expanding foam insulation should keep those concrete pavers from shifting in your ballast box. Just a thought.

steveinmo- good idea although the original plan is that I could remove/add as needed. I have used it as a tool box as I'm sure most have done for rakes, shovels, chain, etc. The box's opening is a pain and limits you on what you can put in it.

I had my rear tires loaded with RimGuard (non-corrosive, non-toxic) which gets about 120#'s in each. I find this sufficient counterballance to use the FEL as a wheelbarrow /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif, and although it probably does compact the lawn more, I find I have less slippage issues on slopes and tight turns -- which really does damage the lawn. When I do really heavy loader work, I add the ballast box which I filled with concrete. Just added a 3PT PTO spreader, and when the weather improves will break it in with some lime I want to put down. For this I'll probably put suitcase weights on the front for counter ballance.

Just glad to offer my .02, oftentimes learned the hard way, to anyone who will listen. These are really great tractors.

panman,

Not sure what you mean by a carry all. Can you describe this? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

my dealer put tubes in my tires and filled them so there would not be any moisture on the rim. a carry all is a flat type deck that you can mount on your 3pt. I am going to make one that I can mount a rain barrel to so i can water my trees. if you look in the projects forum there are some pics.

3 point hitch unit that can carry "stuff" via a platform.
I am picking one up today and will fabricate the platform this weekend. Just thinking I could stack cement blocks on this in a pinch
