Been thinking about adding some chain hooks and a tool box to the Mahindra 6520. I studied here a bit on them and decided to go this route. Started with 3/8 thick steel 4 feet long by 7 inches wide. Had the weld on hooks welded and holes drilled. Just waiting on our next trip to my father-in-law's to attach it. (The tractor lives 2.5 hrs away near the land were working on :( )The tool box is an ammo can sanded, primed and painted. Cant wait to add them to the tractor.
I'm not sure if bolting the metal to the bucket is a good idea or if i should weld it.......

Looks good, with the way the bolts are close to the hooks and the 3/8 plate you should be fine bolting it. Are you mounting it on the top of the bucket? if so and the top is constructed of double wall like mine then you'll want a backer piece under the nuts to prevent crushing the lower wall section, doesn't have to be as big as the top plate but maybe something bigger than just washers, 4"x7"x3/16 maybe.
What is that loaders lift capacity?
JB.

Altho single wall, Id use backer plate as suggested or you may deform the bucket metal with a hard pull.

Where are you putting the toolbox? My 7520 has Ags set out a little. Im eyeing a location inside the fender on the axle housing inside each wheel. Plenty of room if I do something with the breathers.

JB its the Mahindra ML275 loader 3900 lbs lift capacity. I do plan on mounting it on the top of the bucket not sure if it is double wall or not though...

Larry, I was thinking about mounting the tool box on the inside of the fender if theres room or possibly on top of one of the fenders..

....I'm kind of confused on the backer plate thing. Would it be better if I just get another piece of metal the same size and mount it on the inside of the bucket under the hook plate??

...thanks for the replies / advice. I'm still pretty green here. :D

Knowing now that you could have 2 tons on one hook, not sure of your bolt pattern maybe more bolts on the other side of the hooks as well, if you are only bolting it. If you were to weld it on then I don't think you would need any bolts.

The backer piece is just to spread the load on the underside of the mounting surface like a big washer, and like Spyder said would be helpful whether its single or double wall. shouldn't need to be as big as the top plate but if you were to put more bolts in then it might just be easier.
edit; yea the backer pc would go inside the bucket under the mounting plate

That tractor can exert a LOT of force. The top angle bend of the bucket, meant to stiffen, may not be enuf to prevent damage from a pull or lift. I would put a piece about 3/8x2" at 90degrees welded to the plate you made so that it forms a lopsided angle iron. The new piece would be oriented down in front of the buckets top edge. Only the back bolts really need a bearing plate inside the bucket. 3/8 x 3 x 3 would be ample. You dont need to go all the way across. The front angle piece is the most effective orientation for reinforcement.
