Having two properties 5 hours apart I need to carry tools back and forth. At this point I need something bigger but also still mobile. So far I have looked at Sears, Lowes, Home Depot and althought they have some styles that would work the construction looks cheap and not very durable. Anyone find something that might work for my situation?

A little more information would be helpful. How many tools, what kind of tools, etc.... carpentry, mechanics, etc...

Personally, I am fond of tool bags for travel. Metal tool boxes are heavy and not as mobile.

Veto Pro Pac make several styles of hand carry tool bags and totes in different styles.
Klein makes bags and totes that are very durable too.
Leather tool totes are nice for electrical type tools.
Tool zipper bags are nice for larger items.
Knnack has hand tool boxes to job site chests.
I have several tool bags to carry auto detailng tools and a 5 gallon bucket that holds a pad wash system.
5 gallon buckets are great to organize plumbing tools.
I use buckets all the time for carrying parts

My toolbox is a self contained cargo trailer with every carpenter tool needed for an average day on the job, I'm sure you could setup one for any other trade needed, mechanic, plumbing ,electrical, etc, etc, is very mobile and large enough to setup many different tool boxes or compartments inside if need be,

I went this route as a mobile mechanic. Except my cargo trailer is now a 28' gooseneck that weighs 17,000 lbs, but I have everything I need, lol.

Currently I keep my tool box behind the seat of my F250 Club Cab. Hand tools are what I keep in the box and I have a pretty sizeable collection of wrenches, etc.

Get a 4 x 8 trailer from Tractor Supply with a couple of 4 x 2 tool boxes.. bolts them to the trailer.. water proof and locked for electrical or other tools and you still have 4 x 4 opening for anything that may be larger.. my son did it and looks nice.. or if you just need a tool box then.. Lou

Sounds like a good idea.

Do you have a pic of the trailer? I would like to see exactly how this looks.

No I don't but if I see him next week I will get one.. but all he did was bolted one to open to the front of the trailer the other one opens the other way,, both of the tools boxes are in the front so some time a little weight is on the tongue . it has a drop down ramp on it which makes it nice to load up larger pieces of equipment,, Lou

ditto on small trailer with tool boxes and room for supplies. I have one I pull around on the ranch with all sorts of tools for fencing, brush cutting, etc. plus room for hauling posts, wire, etc...super hands behind my RTV.

Well if we're going trailers, I've always wanted an old school bus with a flat deck on the rear 18', car ramps, a removable winch, a roll up garage door on the rear and a folding stairway on the right side at the front of the deck. Then you could have a really nice set of work benches on one side for wood working and metal tools on the other. Stick a gas powered generator/welder and air compressor in there and see you later. All that would be missing is a cable installer's bucket lift and I'd be in heaven.

For my electrical business I use a small 4x6 cargo trailer with plywood shelving to support milk crates. works great. My truck now has two full length drawers in the box below the tonneau cover. One for tools, the other for material. works great so far.

I am already pulling an equipment trailer so that idea won't work for me. I need something I can put in the truck but not having any luck finding something that looks like it would hold up.
