What holds it in the tube?

It's a jamb fit. Most of these cross tubes have a 4" ID. A bit of sanding may be required to get a snug fit with 4" sched 20 end cap.

As a precaution, I use a short piece of stainless wire:

I have 8 of them on the cross tubes of both my tractors and have never had one come loose.

You ALWAYS need a SMV sign if you drive on or along a roadway.
It might help those drivers on the road and on the phone to see you before the crash.

Winter is pretty much over here in the frozen north, it was in the 60s today so I got after that toolbox.

I bought it some time ago at Wally's. It is plastic, with a tray, and measures about 7 x 13 x 6" high.

This is the left fender. Holes 1 and 2 were already there and had rubber grommets in them; I did not use #2. I drilled #3. I used 3/8 bolts to mount the toolbox. I put it almost touching the ROP bar towards the back and centered on the fender the other way.

Any fasteners, washers, nuts, whatever that will be in the weather I only use SS. There is a lake near here and the local hardware has an amazing collection of SS fasteners for the boaters -- pretty much anything you want even for people like me.

The fender is not perfectly flat and when tightening #3 it pulled that corner down and distorted the cover somewhat when trying to close it. So I put a couple washers between the box and the fender to shim it up and it's good:

Always have Front and Rear lights on too. You can be hit in 10 feet!

Metal box from amazon mounted on rops crossbar. Replaced a smaller plastic factory box. Later added a couple of fire extinguishers for mowing.
