I always kind of chuckled at the names of plumbing parts and tools, are names so old they came before slang. That's relatively modern rusty pipe wrench, my family passes down tools like some family's do photo albums

We have an 8 inch "BusyBee" jointer in our shop that looks like a twin for your powermatic jointer . Works very well.

I haven't seen a true Monkey wrench for years. Grandfather had one, last one I've actually handled. Probably still in his old tool kit that somebody inherited.

Reminds me of the time we sent the new apprentice down to the tool room to get a "left handed monkey wrench". An hour later he showed up with two wrenches he said "I found them on the back of the shelf. Had the classic wooden handles; one had LH carved into it and the other RH. He said "I brought them both in case you changed your mind. Looked like fresh carving. He had the last laugh.

This isn't much of a tool but its American made. We are all aware of the "spud guns" that can be made out of plastic pipe, a spark plug ignitor and some hair spray.

I'm beginning to question the sanity of a new neighbor - perhaps - even myself. He came over the other day with his home made spud gun. STEEL PIPE and all the other requirements. He doesn't have the open area to see how truly far it would shoot.

I told him - out there AT LEAST 100 yards from the house. Down the length of my lake and out into the open meadow. A tad over 1400 feet of open water/land.

One shot - NO MORE.

Bottom line - enormous bang - it turns the spud into spud flakes. Looks like its snowing down his way. I hope he is happy because I'm insistent on the one shot deal.

As he was leaving I heard him mumble something about tennis balls or croquet balls. This kid is likely to blow himself up into "people flakes".

Can you find a link to support that? I've found a bunch of links that report they are not illegal as far as the feds are concerned, but local and state laws do apply in many places.

Whatever - even if I have to tell a "little white one" - I like this "kid" and will tell him he could, possibly, be looking at serious trouble with LEO.

Potatoes - pretty sure we are OK there. Never ending supply comes from our neighbor to the East - Idaho.

You know - if he could tone it down a bit. New way to plant spuds without any tillage required.

we built spud guns out of tin cans (70s era) and 100 mph tape. Pour lighter fluid shake assembly several times drop in tennis ball and lighter er-off.
MPs came by patrolling the area and had a shake down in the barracks for discharge of illegal firearms. It did sound like a 12 gauge.

After that we'd do it just to get the MPs out there patrolling the area. I'm sure the statute of limitations has expired.
Hey we were just shade over 20 and all our pilots were Nam vets and some of their zaniness was catchy. That's my story and sticking to it!.
