John Deere 4052R Cab,, Deere 855D UTV, Z920A Zero Turn Mower and assorted implements
I'd like to add a tool box for things like a crescent wrench, lynch pins and such...unlike the 4520 with a Curtis Cab, the cab of the 4052 is quite nice and I'd like to keep it that way as long as possible.
I don't see any good place to mount a decent sized tool box...saw a picture of one mounted on the loader masts, but it wasn't Deere tractor and I'm not real crazy about drilling into that heavy cast iron of the H180 loader.
I've also seen pictures of an ammo box mounted on the quick hitch...I'm thinking there's adequate clearance even when the 3PH is fully raised and the QH is closest to the fenders. Right now, since the QH never comes off the 3PH, that would be the best option

I'm open to other suggestions...pictures, if possible

Put up some pics of your tractor and maybe some ideas can be suggested.. but not being familiar with your particular model, not coming up with anything in mind.

Well, got an ammo can a day ago...
Now I got to determine if there's enough clearance between the quick hitch and rear fenders when the 3PH is fully raised. My eyeball estimate indicates there should be.
I rarely remove the QH since my 3 implements (snow blower, flail mower and woodchipper) are all compatable.

So Roy, you going to fasten it to the QH?

Didn't see a pic of your QH mounted yet.

Yeah, I forgot...try to get it tomorrow as well as a pic of the ammo can

Here you go:

The 3PH was raised as high as it could go and looks like 2-3 inches clearance (just using my hand the approximate the width of the can). I'm going to have to rig some kind of bracket to the QH to support the weight of the ammo can and any tools within. Just bolting the can to the QH probably wouldn't work...although I only expect to keep a crescent wrench, a breaker bar and sockets, some open end wrenches, lynch pins, bungee cords and maybe other odds and ends...maybe 10 pounds, if that.
If I need to use a chain, that goes in the bucket...so the weight of the chain won't be a factor.
The QH, as I wrote, never gets dismounted from the 3PH and I can't see any necessity in the future (unless I buy a newer one some time)
I can't think of any reason this won't work...but other eyes may point out something I missed...
The ammo can is about 7 to 7.5 inches wide

The main need for tools is when I go from the snow blower, chipper or ballast box, to the flail mower. When I rig the mower, the upper hook (on the QH) is replaced by a "U" bracket which allows the Flail mower (a Caroni 1900) to float

Thanks for the pics.
I'd forget trying to fit the fabrication around the ammo can.. go with something smaller that fits the space just ahead and a bit under the top cross tube of the quick hitch.

I carry most everything on top of the rocks in the ballast box.. logging chains, drawbar pins, bunji straps, bar, small 1/4" chains for hanging deer from the bucket, etc.
Wrench or two nest nicely on a pair of leather gloves beside the seat on my 4300. The 4300 has a fender tool box that I can't open because of the chainsaw holster on the ROPS.
Rare that my 4300 stays outside so rain on the chains and tools is not an issue.
