My wife was out mowing, I got a phone call :).

I used the V417 to pull the Toolcat out of the mud:

I bet she wishes you didn't carry that camera around with you all the time!

Yep, it is usually in the V417 :D.

We spent about an hour getting mud off of all the tires and inside the wheels on the left side .

Filling in low part of terrace

This old aerial view shows the terraces that were put in to prevent erosion back when this was farm land. The blue arrow shows the area that I am working on north of the new horse barn. Water would accumulate here after a rain::

Put the 6' box blade on the V417 to move the top of the terrace into the low spot:

In terms of ruggedness, reliability, and build quality, how does the Toolcat compare to the v417/v518 and the T770 track loader? Is the Toolcat any easier to work on (maintenance and minor repairs) than the other two types of Bobcat machines?

I did use a T800 some, but have no experience with a T770, but the Toolcat is rugged enough to do what it is designed to do, very reliable and a high quality build with heavy duty parts.

About the same as the V518, for getting to the grease zerks.

Which one do you think will handle a skid steer type heavy duty brush cutter with mulching teeth for cutting cedars?

If you can find a low flow cutter the V417 would be more versatile.

The Toolcat with the hi flow option would work well.

Our 7' brush hog is low flow 15-25 GPM, but we run it on hi flow and around 1700 RPM:

Why do you say that the V417 is the most versatile of the bunch?

Because of the extending boom. This shows mowing across a silt filled creek.

This is what happens if you drive on silt:

Removing another small cedar tree from the barb wire fence. Used tree limb loppers and a reciprocating saw to cut the the limbs on the east side:

Hooked the chain low on the trunk and pulled to the west, away from the T post:

The root ball moving caused the T post to raise up and lean to the west:

Used my cordless reciprocating saw to cut the trunk off of the root ball:

Used the landplane on the Toolcat from the east side, to push down on the dirt above the roots, straightening the T post:

Moved closer and pushed down again:

Drove around to the west side and pushed down on the stump:

The T post is straight, no more lean:

Put the Monster Grapple on the Toolcat to pickup some previously pulled cedar trees.
At the first one:

Just pickup up my new V417 yesterday. 5 hour drive to get it. Dealer claimed it was the last new tier 3 in USA. It was difficult to find a V417.
Have not seen anything from you in a while, need an update on your V417 please.

On the V417:

Made a new dolly for it from an old shelf:
P1170005.JPG

Drilled through the 3/4 inch plywood, used 1/4 inch bolts:
P1170003.JPG

Here it is with the Omni Transformer 3 point hitch attached:

Picked them up with the crank up lift: See it here: Crank Up Counterbalanced Workbench / Lift

Set them down on the dolly:

Now I can roll it to the storage area:
