I have seen it posted that the plastic strainer under the fuel cap someway has a venting action. Been stated that if it is taken out the tank will not vent properly. Do I have first hand experience? NO!. Mine does have the strainer and it does vent. :D Yanmar Tractor Parts: STRAINER FUEL T

Mine doesn't....and it doesn't:laughing::laughing::laughing:

agree with winston, it needs the diesel filter installed as this has the vent hole in it.with out it she will suck the tank in or it will eventually starve of diesel

Mine has no filter...but I can't understand how that would allow ventilation if the cap has no vent hole. ???

Looking real good on the overheating front; I ran her hard for a while today, and the engine only got warm to the touch. :thumbsup: All it was was some fluffy organic matter plugging the radiator. Good to know.

According to Aaron with Hoye the strainer has a tiny hole in the side of the ring that vents the tank. Aaron is pretty sharp on these things. I went out and looked at mine. The strainer has a small tab that comes up on top with a small hole in it. For the life of me, I can't see how this vents it. All I know for certain is I have never had an issue of non venting. :confused:

I looked at the picture of the strainer and can't figure out how it works either. If the cap screws down onto the top of the strainer does the air work its way around the cap threads:confused:

I don't have a strainer but I think air is getting into my tank around the injector return line so I haven't had any problems.
