Since I like Aberdeen so much here is the burn comparison. Photo one is what I am willing to do with my 30 HP tractor. Note the propane weed burner to start the fire and seperate piles that will not be messed with after lighting. Smaller debris that is not green since grenn stuff floats away when burning and starts spot fires. Early in the morning so that the fire will be out before dark.
Photo 2 is the last big fire I had with the logger. It is permitted and met all the specs but several of the trees on the left of the picture caught on fire. That huge pile of blazing coals was enough to heat up the truck I was sitting on for the photo. The operator couldn't add any more from the feeder pile until it cooled off. It was too hot for him even when he tried loading with the boom between him and the pile. These types of fires make their own wind and are hot enough to burn dirt. Using the feeder pile method the logger was able to burn these down to nothing but ashes, no black remnants of stumps.
I don't want to scare you away from all burning since it is quite satisfying to burn tractor appropriate sized slash piles. There is a point though where the amount of slash is excessive though and I think you're there.
I've got some good friends in Aberdeen, Hoquium(sp), and even cosmopolis.
