I look forward to seeing your pictures. There's been several posts here on TBN about home-grown toothbars, you may check those out if you haven't done so already.

Making my own is something I would love to do, but I don't have the tools /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif. Maybe I should convince the wife of how much money I'd save if I had a welder...Hmmmm. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Are you sure about that weight, or is that what the shipper estimated? I got 5 feet of 1"x1" solid steel stock for making the teeth, 5 feet long is 17 Lbs. Then a piece of 3/8"x4"x 10' long that the teeth will be welded to, it is 66 Lbs. Finally a piece of 1/2"x2"x4' for the side piece that ended up being free because they rounded off the weight to an even number. So I think I'm saving about $100. Now someone may bring up that this steel is not heat treated or hardened. That is true, but since the teeth will be pushing into dirt, I don't think I need hardened steel for that.

I just purchased a tooth bar for my L3130/FEL LA723 from Markham. I paid 236.00 plus shipping. It is a "macho" made bar. After having used it for removing "palmetto" bushs and doing everything from picking up 8" logs to pulling large vines from the big Live Oaks, I would not get rid of the unit for three times the money. The best thing I have purchased for the L3130 stc.
Mine has 7 teeth and fits a 66" bucket.

Mine does weigh about 150#. A lighter bar may work just as well, and I'm sure mild steel teeth will probably last you a long time in dirt (if not you could hard face them). Be sure to post a picture when you get it finished!

I have made the 1st tooth (my baby got it's first tooth!) and attached is a photo of it, dry fitted to check for fit. There is an angled slot that tightly fits over the cutting edge.

Looks good, the rest will be easier now /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
I'd go nuts /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif To easy to get the parts. Thats just me, which does not explain why I am going to drill 60 holes in a piece of steel for a landscape rake /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif Again, just me /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

hey, My thread is falling deep into the list so I better post an update to bring it to the top. I finished all "six teefers" now. Hopefully I will finish the project tomorrow. Also the two hooks that I ordered from JC Whitney back in February finally arrived for the top of the bucket. See attached.
