There is another American hero from Texas who also made some good movies. Audie Murphy like John Wayne played the person he was. Destry, Night Passage and No Name on the Bullet are 3 that come to mind.
Although To **** and Back will always be one of my most memorable.

Hidalgo was a wonderful movie...and the City Slicker movies were really funny. I'm now reminded of another movie that I thoroughly enjoyed, entitled "Tumbleweed", starring Audie Murphy. Tumbleweed, his horse, turns out to be an unlikely hero, much like Hidalgo.

Those are all great, hard to limit it to 10. I think Lonesome Dove should be in there somewhere although its a TV miniseries. Read the book and the movie didn't disappoint. I wish they would make more westerns, but I guess we'll have to enjoy the ones we have.
