( Top, nice feature, except when lining up implements for attachement on a larger tractor. Not sure on a 24D. But on my 40D, after connecting an implement to the lower 3-pt pins, I'd have to walk around to the side of the tractor to the TNT Top adjustment lever and keep going back and forth doing this till I got it adjusted so the top link lines up with the implement.)

On my 33D, I just stand on the right side, run the toplink control with my right hand, and hold the toplink with the left. Jockey around the control till they line up, then pop in the pin. I would imagine it would be even easier to do without wlaking on a 24D.

On the subject of the TNT interfering with the back hoe... yes, it would get in the way (if I ever get around to buying a BH), but since mine is set up with quick disconnects, I can just pop the hydraulic toplink off in about a minute.

While I'm a definte fan of TNT (I use my box blade a LOT), I do have one thought on TNT for the 24D... Is it possible to reach and adjust your toplink on the 24D fairly easily from the seat? If so, you've taken away one of the major hassles of the manual link... you don't have to keep climbing on and off the tractor.

The pictures I posted show my TC 24D with TNT. I added the crank from a T33D on the other side. It comes in handy if I have to make a quick correction without having to switch the cylinder to the other side. The pictures also show the Three Rivers 2 inch receiver hitch system and my custom mounted Fimco 12 volt pump sprayer (a work in progress).

Oh and yes I would say I am in the TNT camp, in fact I graded it! I will try to post some photos of my handy work showing how useful the TNT system can be. I have created terraces from steep hillsides and I really do not see how it can be done by constantly jumping off the tractor to adjust and then to backfill jump off again to readjust. It just would not happen that way. Also here is a FYI on the stock crank or turnbuckle link. it does not have the range that the stroke of a Hydraulic cylinder gives you.

Yeah a FEL is tops over TNT but it should be right next in line to a box scraper. But then again I really think that people have different needs in different areas.

( My dealer went the expensive route by using only one remote and a multiplier. He is a heavy construction dealer and hydraulics to him is an everyday thing.
)

According to NH, my TC18 can have only one remote added (I already have a FEL). While I think my dealer is tops in terms of repairs and help for owners, I haven't gotten the impression that they are very inventive. I think most of their customers use their equipment pretty much out of the box, and the dealer isn't called upon very often to customize stuff. So, it helps if I have more information than they do when I want them to do something.

So, what is a multiplier? Can it be used to add more remotes than NH provides? Is it something similar to "Power Beyond" which I seen referenced in some other threads? Is there a limit to how much can be asked of a hydrualic system? The TC18 flows 6.75 total gpm, of which the power steering takes 2.75 gpm, leaving 4 gpm for everything else. Is that enough to handle more than one remote? If not, that's probably why NH restricts the TC18 to one remote. Where can I get more information about multipliers?

( The problem is my dealer has not done this on a 24D and apparently isn't enthusiastic about tracking down the appropriate cylinders to make it work.)

Hmmm. If the dealer isn't willing to work on getting something you want before the sale, I wouldn't expect much service after the sale! I'd find another dealer!

Danny,

Right after I made that post I wondered how long it would take before someone would respond as you did (because I would have responded the same way).

Maybe I could have worded my post a little better. Maybe it would be more fair to say that my dealer may not be as imaginative as some other dealers (and certainly not as imaginative as many TBN members).

In all fairness to him, he is a new dealer and, therefore, has a relatively small dealership. He has a small staff (he is the sales department), a receptionist / secretary type person and a small parts/service department. He is usually running in 3 directions at the same time. My thoughts are that he just doesn't have time to do alot of research for the atypical request; however, he is very willing to follow-up and check into specific items I have asked about.

For example, he was not aware of a quick-attach adapter for the 12LA FEL. Because of the fine folks at TBN, I was aware that ATI had recently engineered a quick-tach for this loader. Once I pointed him in the right direction he was happy to make the call to ATI and get the specifics. I would imagine that it would be similar with the TnT.

Now, I am only guessing here, but I suspect that he does not yet have an All-Star service department. I doubt in the year he has been open that he has generated enough service work to justify (? afford) the best technicians around. I am expecting satisfactory service, but not necessarily exemplary service. I may be wrong here in either direction - because he is still a small dealership, I may get the red carpet treatment or the service may, in fact stink. Only time will tell.

Why, then, am I going to buy from him? Well, the dealer is a neighbor and friend of mine. I would be uncomfortable buying a NH product elsewhere. Had I decided on orange or green, that would be different and I wouldn't hesitate to tell him if I liked another product better. In fact, when I started my tractor-buying adventure, I thought I was going to get a BX22. He understood that he didn't have a comparable product to offer and had nothing but good things to say about Kubota.

The other reason I will buy from him is he has fair prices. I wasn't necessarily looking for the rock-bottom price from him because I know, at this time, he is a lower volume store than some of the others and if he doesn't turn a profit then he doesn't stay in business very long. But he posts list price and sales price on all of his tractors and he was far cheaper than the big dealership I went to (who did not post any prices). And, had he been too high, then I would have told him so and gone elsewhere. After all, friendship works both ways. Have people on TBN posted cheaper prices? Sure, but others have paid more, too.

I have started a buisness from scratch. Its not easy and there are growing pains. I have faith that he will treat me well. I may have to dig for some information myself and share some of the cool stuff I learn on TBN with him. But I can live with that.

BTW, I'm no longer in the market for a 24D. After talking with my dealer about an upcoming land purchase, we decided to kick it up a notch. Will be ordering a 29D. Can't wait.

Sorry for the long reply.

I like your analysis and comments about the new, small dealer. When my business was new and small, it was customers like you who enabled me to show what I could do and grow from there.

Now, that makes more sense to me. I don't think there's all that much price difference between the 24D and the 29D, and I'd rather be at the lower end of the larger frame than at the high end of the smaller frame. While the 24D has more features and more horsepower than my TC18, there is also a pretty big price difference between the two. The 29D has even more features and yet more horsepower, plus the larger frame, for very little additional. I never considered the 21 or 24 - it was either the 18, or else a 29 or 33. Of course, your mileage may vary /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
