Trying to buy a TC24d. Asked my dealer about hydraulic top and side links for the 3PH (TNT). He says he can't find any information for this (no problem with the rear remote). Anyone have a source? Although I have never owned a tractor before and really have no idea what is involved, it seems to me that once the remote is in place, adding the hydraulic cylinders would be pretty easy. Am I way off base here?

Of course you need two pairs of remotes for two cylinders, then Tisco, Gannon, Bailey, and others sell the cylinders. You may or may not have a problem finding cylinders exactly the right length and with the right stroke length, and you may find them with the proper ends or you may have to get the proper ends welded on after you get the cylinders. Then of course, you'll need two hydraulic hoses for each cylinder.

It's not as easy as you might think! Finding cylinders that have the right lengths was not easy for me. I didn't have the rear remote hydraulics, so I had to get that first, which cost several hundred. Then, finding a top link cylinder turned out to be hard to find and expensive (over $300). The side link was easier to find, but I had to add some restrictors in the hoses or it was too jerky. Here are some of the related links:

Although a very nice option, especially the top link, TNT certainly is not a necessity. On a 24D, it seems a little unnecessary to me. I'd keep the deal simple and not worry about it. Obviously this is just my opinion, but I'd put the money instead toward a FEL, it will be much better spent there.

Mosey,
Thanks for the links. I see where this can get quite costly. My price for one rear remote (dealer installed) is $255. I found a hydraulic top link at Freedom Hitch that is $225. So, I may go with this. Seems like a reasonable compromise.

Duane,
I certainly agree that this is an unnecessay item. Unfortunately, I am not experienced nor do I have the tools to do the kinds of modifications that I read about on TBN. So, if I decide to add something to the tractor later, it will mean a trip to the dealership, a trip to pick it up (or I can pay for pickup and delivery) plus the down time in between. My thinking was to try to anticipate future uses and equip the tractor as I want now in ordr to avoid inconvenience later. So far (in addition ot the the rear remote and top link) I'v thought of welded hooks on the bucket, quick-tach for the FEL, removable toothbar. Am I forgetting anything?

BTW, I am getting a FEL and a bh with the tractor.

Thanks for the reply,

Bruce

How about an auxilliary light or two? There is no light facing to the rear and the front headlights often become obstructed by the FEL.

Of course not; and neither is a FEL. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif But if you ever have it, you'll really hate to be without it in the future. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Of course, I'd certainly agree that the FEL is more valuable than the TNT, especially since the FEL costs about 4 times as much as the TNT. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Oh Yeah, lights. Murph (thcri) suggested a manetic mount for the lights. Then you can point them forward or backward as needed. Sounds like a good idea to me. Will adding extra lights require a change in alternator on the 24D?

For me, I'm not really sure a tractor is a necessity. But I sure want one.
