I am having trouble with a top link adjustment. When I am hooking up my mower, it seems that the top link is got to be extended all the way out. I've got the arms all the way in. Can't figure it out, what am I doing wrong The link is 32" extended, should be long enough. The tractor is a Kubota mx5000.

What is the mower model? Can you provide us with a pic?

A picture would definitely help. Almost sounds like your missing the piece that goes on the mower that allows the mower to pivot up and down. Mine is a U shaped piece of steel some others have mentioned a chain setup.

Good luck.

Does it have a "U" shaped bracket like this one below??? Also, I normally don't attach the top link when I'm mowing The tail wheel stays on the ground the whole time and just lift the the lower arms when I need to get over a rock.

It's a woods mower, it has the pivoting u-shaped swivel. Don't currently have it hooked up. Next time I have it on I'll snap a pic.

thanks, Brix

once the lower arms are connected lift them up a little so that it lifts the mower closer for the toplink. Kind of hard to explain why but it works for an inch or 3 closer for my attachement on my tractor

I have seen implements that required a long barrel toplink. This may be one of them. Ken Sweet

I agree with Ken, get another top-link if you need to for the correct angle. Even with a hydraulic top-link, I have a regular one a little longer.

The standard toplinks have approx a 16 inch barrel and the long barrel is 20 inches. Ken Sweet

I think you hit the nail on the head. If I leave the mower sitting level (wheel on the ground and front blocked up) I have no problems connecting. If either end is much higher than the other the top link is too short.

My top link is set at 29 1/4 inches overall length for the mower to work well on my tractor (L3400 w RCR 1860 Land Pride cutter) Also, the top link is in the lowest hole on the tractor.

With it set up to mow about 6" height, if the cutter is sitting level behind the tractor, there's a slight sag in the top linkage, as it recommends in the manual.

Check the manual for the tractor AND the cutter for set-up procedure, it helped me quite a bit. The cutter manual should be available online of you don't have one. Even if yours isn't listed, almost any cutter manual will do the trick, there isn't a lot of difference setup-wise anyway.
