Toplink placement with boxblade

I suspect it has to do with the angle of the toplink. Its easier to bend something when pushed at an angle vs striaght back.

Well since both ends are pinned joints you aren't going to be sideloading it or twisting it. No matter the angle of the top link, the force is always acting to compress it. The buckling force required to bend that toplink is constant and the adjustment of toplink position changes how much force is applied to compress the top link. My only issue is that the adjustment between top link holes is very small so it seems the force is not changed much, but apparently it is just enough.

I just went to the garage and moved mine to the center hole. I'm guessing I'll have to readjust the Back Blade (If it ever snows enough to use it).
As I'm leaving Sat. for a cruise /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif, I'll figure all that out when I get back.

I discovered that I did damage to the tractor when I hit with the box blade, I never notice it until now, check out were the swaybar hooks up to the tractor, the first pic is of the side that wasn't bent, the second is, believe me after hitting the way I did, well lets just say I take my time now with the BB /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif...cag

Yikes. You must have been backing up with it?? I suppose it is better than then the transmission case. Bummer. Tell us more on how it happened since I spend mucho time land clearing with a box blade and pull the rippers through some nasty roots.

I was pilling mulch on a pavement surface, (40 trees worth) after a while I got the hang of it and started to push in high gear, that is, until I came across an uneven surface of the parking lot /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gifI actually hit hard enough to lift the front end of the tractor, stupid ain't it, I've learn a valuable lesson, merry Christmas all...cag

It does limit (eliminate) the draft control when pushing. That's the reason for 3 holes, draft sensitivity.

I'm sorry, still a little fuzzy, you were cruising along going forward and hung up on something or cruising along in reverse pushing with the back of the boxblade and ran into something. For your front end to lift you really must have been moving. Probably spilled your drink. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Sorry to hear about your bend. It doesn't look too bad though, should be able to straighten it out easily enough if you even want to bother.
I hope everyone had a great holiday!
