toro mower deck

I have a toro wheelhorse riding lawnmower, the engage blade leverstopped working? anyone else had this problem?

Just a shot here cause of limited info, no model number hydro or manual tranny, belt or shaft driven===. So electric clutch failure.

it is a hydro , belt drive. There is a cable attached to the lever that seems loose ( a lot of play)

I'm only guessing, but when you move that lever doesn't that cable move a pulley against a belt that goes to the pulley on the mower deck spindle? Sounds like a simple adjustment unless the spring is missing from the pulley, or the pulley itself has come off or the belt has come off the pulley. In other words, hard to say without seeing it, but I'd expect it to be a simple fix.
