Tough decision BX2200 or B7500

   / Tough decision BX2200 or B7500 #21
This is my first time replying,( hello) I bought a B7400 which is the same machine as the B7500 but without power steering. The dealer said it was a hard machine to sell because it lacked power steering so he sold it to me for the same price as BX2200, which was 12,400. I got an FEL,5ft belly mower, and 6ft back blade for 12,400$. The dealer had four B7400s and said it would be too hard to sell all of them so I got a deal. Maybe you can look around for a B7400 and see if you can get the same deal. I haven't missed the power steering. By the way, you won't regret getting the bigger machine,............but you might getting the smaller one.

It seems these two tractors get compared more on this site than any other two. And, as always, we all have our bias. Most of us haven't owned both and we are so pleased with the one we bought - well, you get the idea.
It seems the ground clearance gets the most attention and no doubt some need the extra clearance of the 7500. When I first got the tractor, I would leave the MMM on while doing other chores (loader work, etc.). I soon realized that was not the best idea as the MMM would often not clear all the obstacles around my place. It is easy to remove and reinstall the MMM, so I took it off and have never had a clearance problem since. I do have some slopes, uneven ground and some woods I work in. On the other hand, I am not trying to clear some of the logs, rocks and things I have seen others post pics of on this site. In those cases, the extra clearance of the 7500 would be a necessity.
As for mowing, I haven't used the 7500, but the BX is so sweet when it comes to mowing with MMM. I mow 4 acres. I like the MMM rather than 3 pt finish mainly so that my older children can mow easier. (What I'd really like is an offset, self powered finish mower to give me a 8-9 ft cut with the MMM and finish mower combined! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif )
I am biased, but only because I love this tractor - just hope these observations from my personal experience are beneficial!

Just my.02,
Either unit should work in your situation. In talking to my dealer he related a story of a guy who is building a house and is using a bx2200. His logic was that after the house was done he didn't need the bigger machine. He is doing some digging, moving material, driveway work, etc., and aparently is working the machine hard but has had no problem.
It almost comes down to your personal preference. Both are good machines. The b7500 is a more general purpose unit, and will negotiate rougher terrain. The bx is tailored more as an "estate" tractor(don't shoot me, thats what they call it) that will do most of the chores required by a small landowner.
I raised the same question here a couple of weeks ago. I went with the bx due to the hills I have and the simple operation of the bx. My lot is sloped and has some rock. Most work will be mowing, snow removal, gardening, and various small projects. I feel that as long as I use some common sense and don't overdo it the bx should do anything I need around here.
Trust your gut and GO FOR IT. I doubt you can go far wrong either way.
