Towing a car ... Remove driveshaft?

Thats too bad. What type of truck was it? Just really curious because in the last week I have seen 2 Dodge trucks along side the road with broken rear axles. The the first one had the cover of the pumpkin blown out with gear oil all over the place.

Thats too bad. Don't hear of too many Chevy products loosing a rear axle. Last one I had any dealings with was a co workers son had one go out in a Trail Blazer. I picked it up with my trailer from the WalMart parking lot where he left it and took it to the airport for our mechanic to fix.

Another post in favor of disconnecting the driveshaft. I suggest you only disconnect it at the rear, not at the transmission. Chain it up safely, ensuring that it will not be near the [spinning] yoke on the rear. Or, remove it altogether. Just be sure not to disconnect it only from the transmission, as you'd not only lose some ATF (maybe), but you'd also create a pole vault risk in the event of the shaft falling.
