Not a funny name but I can honestly say I grew up 2 mi from Dixie, Dixie Va that is. It is a cross roads that used to have a motel and restaurant on one side of the road and a trailer park on the other. Both are gone, just like the signs the state puts up. Everyone wants a Dixie sign! Ed

Does Chappaquiddick Island count?

and Athol is the butt of a few jokes.
And if someone doesn't get it, we have a town named after them as well: Marblehead. (Also a village in Ohio on Lake Erie)

In Maine you can visit Belfast, Calais, China, Denmark, Lebanon, Mexico, Naples, Norway, Paris, Peru, Poland, Rome, Stockholm, Sweden, Vienna, and Wales: all in one day.

I always wanted to retire to Loafers Glory here in NC. But I don't want to live on this street in Asheville, NC.

I live in a little village in the town of Essex, CT. Ivoryton, so named due to a industry built on the tusks of untold thousands of dead elephants, 70-200 years ago. Piano keys, billiard balls, combs, jewelry, etc. A sad history really. Village streets are named ebony, ivory, keyboard, melody, harmony, chord, fife, etc. Old mills & factories are now converted to condos & warehouses.

We have a lot of towns/places named in the native Maori language. One river is called the Tutaikuri river.
Kuri = dog Tutai = s**t.

Reminds me of a realtors sign I saw once. Her name was Helen Waite. Her motto was to go to her for your real estate needs.

Not far from me is a small town called Ink. As the story goes, when they applied for township, The official form specified "Please print in ink".

Sugar Tit, SC
Read this about your town. Sugar Tit received its name when the men spent so long socializing at the local general store, their wives complained they took to the store like a baby to a sugar tit.

A good one!!!!!

Where I live, it's how stuff is pronounced that is weird.

Whitworth, pronounced Witerth
Slaithwaite, pronounced Slowit
Mytholmroyd, no one seems to agree on that one, but it's funny listening to the train conductor call the stop.
