Rust holes in the frame of my '02 Ford Taurus. 2 years ago Ford told me, "Sorry, it's out of warranty."

Eeeesh! Hope you don't drive that thing anymore...whole front half waiting to break off. Looks like you drove the thing through the ocean!

A lot of us, I'm one, gave up on the domestics for good reason. And 20 years of driving toyotas makes me keep buying them for good reason. Whereas a lot of Ford guys I know won't buy another one. A few too many of the standard issues and Ford not standing behind them, despite that every dealer in the country knows what they are.

Love my 2008 Tundra, and love my 1988 landcruiser. 200k miles on it, and starts and drives like it always has.

Toyo steel has never been it's strong suit though.

The European Ford Escort had the same problem. A guy at work bought one cheap, welded and riveted some sheetmetal over it so it would pass inspection, and drives cheap to work He lets his wife only drive the Mitsu

I had a '76 Toyota Landcruiser. The 258 straight six rice burner burned darn near as much oil as gas. Rebuild was $2,500 with me pulling the motor and re-installing back in 1983. My buddy had an SR-5 Toyota 4x4 pickup that rusted out in 5 years.

Never had a 'Murrican made car/truck do that.

I guess I was the one unlucky Toyota guy.

I see no good reason to give up on domestics. There's still hardly any Toyota or Nissan trucks used as hard as domestic full size trucks, so how can a domestic full size truck be expected to last as long or be as reliable as a T or N not used for serious work?
