Traction with Turf Tires

Late to this thread, but if you are still undecided here is my input. I went through the same decision process over tires 3-1/2 years ago.

I have the nx4510 hst cab with the big Titan turf tires. I do a lot of grading and snow removal with my 7-foot Woods box and snow blades, and rarely have traction problems. In fact the turf tires are much better then R4s on packed snow and rough ice. You are correct about head clearance in a shed or garage. That is a big advantage in my case, and may be in yours as well. BUT, the turf tires on the nx series are very wide, so your width will be over 83 inches, sidewall to sidewall. That is too wide for many trailers, and a standard car hauler, so they require a deck over, or a rollback truck if you plan to haul.

Thank you very much Threepoint.

This is a very valuable input, NX4510 is my favorite. Are those big Titan turf tires offered by Kioti as option when buying new or did you buy them separate? Do you know if there are any other turf tires that fit with NX4510 but are not too wide? I prefer to keep the trailer option simple...like towing behind ford truck.

thank you.

Three point, it would be great if you could post some pictures of the NX4510.

I am interested in the ROPS only because I don't want to spend another 5,000 on cab, especially that I don't have to use the tractor when the weather is bad.

There can be a big difference in R4 from manufacturer to manufacturer, same for turfs.

Some R4s have what I consider very deep tread. The bars are still wide which limits sq in pressure but the deeper tread helps.

Turffs with chains year round on the Bolens HT. Works well enough.

I'll need to see how the new comer B7200 turffs with chains compares. We get snow, and pushing blowers is the first concern.

Mine are the Kioti optional turf tires, which are made by Titan. I don't know about other narrower turf tires that might be available as special order through your dealer. Keep in mind though that one of the reasons turf tires are better in certain applications is that they give more surface area because of that wider width, plus more but lower- profile lugs. More ground contact on firm footing means more purchase. So narrower turf tires would trade off some of that advantage.
