Wife's stars were street lights until we met,and now she likes country.

Mrs. never thought to much of tractors until one heavy snowfall w/difting snow which follow Febuary 09,Mrs. hook up the plow and went at it...she plow off places I never thought of..she was hook..thought I was going to have to hide the key so I could get some plow time.

Shorty aftwards Mrs. said we need bigger tractor..okay:),so off we went tractor shopping for another Kubota and decided on another B,Mrs. call me at work said dealer going to deliver tractor this afternoon :) what a surprise when I saw what was setting on flat bed:eek: she decided something bigger and more "thingies"..long as she happy also safer what the heck.

Gotta say that x-city gal got nack for todays tractor, also keeping the dealership on there toes. :)

I'm 50+ now and I could not live where I do or own and care for horses if I did not have a tractor. I am kicking myself for not buying the snow blower for my MX5000. We are getting hammered! The tractor and FEL will do the job but I an actually moving big piles of snow back so I can have some place to put what has filled in the drive. Not to worry, we are only supposed to get another foot of snow today and more on Friday...

That is a great story! I have tears in my eyes ;)

My wife is still mostly in the "doesn't get tractors" category, but she has shown some signs of understanding lately.
I too started with a B7100 (which is what is pictured on my avatar, because I haven't updated it).

Well, after completely renovating an 1880's farm house in Vermont for 6 years and selling just before the market dropped we made enough for a nice down payment. I wanted land, a tractor, a garage, and a house that didn't need to be completely gutted.

We got an abandoned house on 12 acres with two streams. The house needed to be excavated so I could repair the foundation, all new siding, roof windows, wiring (mice), flooring, heat . . . everything. And no garage. It took two years of intense negotiation to get my Bobcat CT 235. In exchange I had to agree to two tropical vacations a year. Little does she know, I only pretend to dislike vacation so when she complains about my "Toy" I can complain about her vacations. It is a nice little agreement we have.

Last night I got to plow the drive and walk ways. When I came back in 20 minutes later she said "your already done" I said "yup". I didn't tell her that I let the tractor warm up for half of that. Then I reminded her that the wood in the stove heating the house was essentially free, and at $30 a pop to plow the drive and $200 a cord, the toy will pay for itself pretty quick.

When the boss and I got 3 ac. and built the house, I started working on how to mow this much, boss "encouraged" me to get a tractor.. She found an 8N that had been sitting for 4 years at a good price:D. Anyhow after 3 ice storms in 1 year and no chains this 4WD Ford magically appears:D and she bats her eyes and says you are going to buy it aren't you? What can I say?

Guess I'm fortunate! With buying my Dad's old homestead in the Country in '72, 50 miles South of Buffalo, The first lawn JD was a no-brainer. I've now been through a 140, 316, 317, and now have a 318 w/ mower/blower, a 4200 with FEL, BH, and toys! She's never complained! When I just bought a 1947 JD-"M" 'popper', the only thing she said was "Why do you need that, you've aready got three don't you?" My reply: "Now we do!" Our tractors have fought Buffalo winters for years here, back at home. More than once have I plowed the street, and had neighbors taking up a collection! Buffalo=Snow! Rodger Welsch, humorist, tractor restorer, said it best: "Just never line all your tractors up in a row, so that she can easily count them"! He might have something there!
Let me take this opportunity to wish all my TBN Family a wonderful Christmas, and New Year! ~Scotty

I got the wife mowing with the old 9N, but we were looking for something new and traded in the 9N for a DX25E, as soon as that came home the wife took off with it and said that was hers. She put more hours on that one than me.

We then traded up again for the T2220 and she grabbed that one also since we traded in "her" tractor. But she made up for it letting me trade in the IH 1066 for the DX60. But I've got to watch her, we got busy one day and she took off in the DX60 and cultivated the farm for a few hours:D.
