Not much. Works good? Any flaws?

Works great. No flaws with the machine. Flaws in the design is is I wise the boom could dig closer to the machine.

Bad geometry? That's why I'm gonna make tripple boom. I had a problem with small height of the bucket close to the machine on my rk 525 so I will make it better on my new one. Some of these details come to attention once you start working with the machine. There are many small details like this one but they do make a difference especially when you work in tight place or next to a building. I figured out I have enough digging depth but can always use more lifting power and height...

I think it’s more the nature of the beast and less of a design problem. I don’t see any good way to design it better without comprising something else while remaining 2 stick. How much weight do you plan on lifting with the boom and how high can it go?

There are some solutions even on 2 stick machine. The plan is 1000 kg, reach 6 meters, height 7 meters. Digging depth will be 4 meters because we have alot of gravel below the soil so when you dig a deep hole it tends to collapse...

Why such a massive boom for the tractor it’s going on? The boom on my full size backhoe is rated for 17 feet 8 inch reach and 10 feet load height although I think it would do higher. Maybe it’s not important to you but I think you’re really comprising your possible digging strength with a boom that big. The limitations of my machine is in most cases pulling the machine around or lifting if off the ground. When digging you have to use most of the force to lift up, not pull back and even then it’ll pull the front of the machine out the ground.

The boom is actually not heavy. I made significant difference in material thickness to decrease the weight of the machine. Reach is only little longer then it was on rk 525. I plan to use it for digging and also forest work, loading logs etc.

You might get more than 1000kg lift on the boom if you have enough weight on the front. This block is 30 cubic feet of concrete so nearly 5000 pounds and it lifted it at 3/4 reach. It lifted the smaller 12 cubic feet each blocks at full reach. IMG_1052.JPGIMG_0927.JPG
