Harv,
Nice picture, I love the mirror image, and yes you are right about the SLR. My friend Norman is a Semi Profesional photographer and we read and reseachered digital cameras for quite some time. Everything we found in the higher pixel area had limited zoom capabilities. I am sure there is a reason why they can't make a 3, 4, or 5 mega pixel camera with a 10 optical zoom, but I have no clue what it is.
I have been really pleased with my choice and my friend Norman is quite impressed with it. It came ready to roll right out of the box, with an 8 MB card, NiMh batteries (Nickel Metal Hydride) and a charger. I did buy the 64 MB card at the same time for around $70 I think, but it came with an Olympus rebate for the full price of the card, so it was basicly FREE.
I do get a little worried when I take it in the kayak with me but I keep it in a dry bag when it is not in my hand.

Those are fantastic pictures!!

I grew up spending summers on that lake back in the 50's to the mid 1980's. I remember when it was populated with real camps.

I like the camera but the price is right up there, is there a step down from there that still gives decent results?

Youare,
I apologize for dragging this post away from the Joyful return of you L3000 from the tractor hospital. I will attempt to steer it back towards tractors.
For you Kubota owners who are looking for a way to theft proof your machines maybe this picture will give you some ideas. All be it a little extreme, it would be most effective.

Youare,
As with anything, you get what you pay for, but to answer your question, Yes, there are some excellant camers out there that may have a smaller zoom capability or maybe a little smaller pixel size and at a more reasonable price. Do some reading at this website, I found it to have a lot of interesting comparison information. I haven't figured how to make this a link that will work ( I am doing something wrong ) But here is the URL.

I have a Sony Mavica MVC FD91 digital camera. I like it real well. It has a good zoom and self focusing. I like it better because it uses common 3 1/2" floppy disk. I can store the disks very cheaply. Very easy to email from the floppy disk. About 40 pictures on low defination and about 25 on high. I paid a little over one thousand for it new.

Just wrap the url with the url markup tags, or to be extra classy (and compact), try the url= tag (the actual tags have square brackets [ ] around them). There's a whole bunch of cool things you can do with TBN's markup tags.

Hey MarkNH. That yard looks an awful lot like the yard full of tractors at MB Tractor (Formally Ryan Tractor) in Tilton!!..As luck would have it, I purchased a new B7500 with 302 FEL and a Woods 6500 BH along with a 16 foot trailer to yank it around on back in January. And get this, dude..my wife INSISTED I go buy it. Is that great or what??..She said I needed a toy to play with soooo..who am I to disappoint her??

Digger,
The house in the picture would be somewhere on Route 109 South, in the vicinity of the
Bald Peak Colony Club, ie. Major White Folk !!!
I don't know for sure if it is actualy part of the club, but it's along that shoreline somewhere.
And yes that is MB tractor in Tilton.
Your wife wouldn't have any cute, single, sisters by chance. I could use me one just like yours. A good woman with the Right Attitude is hard to come by.
