Tractor canopies

Mine is holding up fine, I have lots of low branches as well, but I try to stay out of them, when bushhoging,I go around the outer edge and back into the areas where branches are in the way,it takes a little time but the hydro makes it a lot easier without all of the gear shifting.I paid $435 for mine and $121.43 for the console kit,the gentleman at firebird let me have it at cost, because I had seen a couple of JD dealers that did not have his literature displayed, and I told him if he was a distributor the JD dealers were not getting his info out to the customers and I told him which dealers.I bought mine in October of 2000 and picked it up and got it home and took it out of the box and it was busted, they sent a new one and we inspected it at the dealer before I accepted it. I also had a roof rack custom made for it from "Wilderness Roof Racks" in California, they done a superb job,it fits to a T,they said they have never made one for a tractor before,I told them I would send a photo I never got around to it though.I really have it looking nice with some old style John Deere lettering on it and lighting,I had a lot of good comments on it.A friend said I should use the canopy for a tree stand in deer season, it is very strong.Nice canopy a little expensive but you get what you pay for.

I forgot to say you would probably have to get a price through your dealer.

Bird, Can you order from Wells over the Net? I'm interested in the diamond plate canopies.

Re: Another low cost alternative

Not offended in the least. Everyone has their priorities and where they draw the line.
IMO, the contact with our survailence plane, was probaby caused by a pilot who seen too many topgun movies, that didn't translate well /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif Any pilot that would bring their plane that close to another, says it all. Unless your the Blue Angels, that is! After the incident, in comes down to politics and saving face. Not pretty!

Jeff, since the last time I mentioned the Wells Ag Co. on the forum, I stopped by to visit those folks. They seemed like real nice folks and said they ship an average of 400 canopies a month, but unfortunately, they do not retail or sell to individuals. I looked at a pin map they had showing the location of their dealers; mostly in this area (Texas, Oklahoma, Lousiana, Arkansas, and Missouri); just a few in other states, including just one in South Carolina. The boss did tell me that if anyone wanted one, ask your tractor dealer to contact them and they'd be glad to add another dealer. So . . ., I don't know what your dealer would sell you one for because there would undoubtedly be some shipping costs involved that my dealer doesn't have (located about 10 miles down the Interstate from Wells). So, if you want to ask your dealer to contact them, or if you want to contact them, it's:

Wells Ag Company
617 S. McLennan Drive
Elm Mott, TX 76640
(254) 829-2822

Elm Mott is just north of Waco and McLennan Drive is the northbound service road of I-35.

Just curious -
For those of you that installed a canopy did you consider getting one that is FOPS (Falling Object Protection ) rated?
I wonder if most canopies would pass the FOPS specs anyway.

I am also having difficulties with Bernie. I paid $240 thru PayPal on 8/6/01 and was told the canopy would ship immediately. No canopy and its 9/5/01. He has not answered 3 emails and will not return calls. I would suggest that all avoid this deal until DadDina and/or I have some resolution. Bernie may be on a beach somewhere sipping pinacoladas with our money.

JerryT & DadDina,
In Bernie's profile, he says he is a production manager for Kevlacat. A quick internet search shows there is such a company in Fortson, GA. Their web site, here, shows a toll free number. You may want to give them a call and see if they've ever heard of Arthur Brett Burnes. I can only say that, personally, I'd take a pretty dim view of an employee ripping people off, even in a sideline business, while letting them know that he worked for my company. Could be they've never even heard of him, but might be worth the call.

Yea Hoss is right but there really is no excuse for not returning email. It's too bad this guy got the best of people even if he is legitimate I surely would not order from him and almost did if he would have sent me a picture of one on a john deere.

Mohammad et al...

Would it be wise to have people selling stuff/offering services through the Website register prior to offering their wares. I have bought my tiltmeter and a toothbar with wonderful results. I would recommend those vendors to anyone. However, this Bernie guy.... well, I'll be civil.
