Tractor
kubota B2620
This is my first post on TBN and tomorrow I get my first tractor!!!

The local dealer brings by my Kubota B2620 with loader and Land Pride box blade tomorrow. I have been researching the heck our of this purchase and my decision was helped in no small part by all those who have contributed to TBN before me. Thanks to everyone who has contributed facts or opinions to the many threads on this board.

We bought 4 acres last August. 2 are beautifully manicured and 2 are pasture. We have many small and medium sized projects planned including a new garage (reason to buy backhoe), planting a large garden and dealing with some grading issues for water run off.

We have installed a geothermal in the pasture and the installing company left it as very rough grade (they detail this point in the contract). I am looking forward to logging my first hours on the tractor cleaning this up.

I don't think I will run short of reasons to start up the new Kubota in the foreseeable future.

Again, thanks all!!

Dan

DoppleG-

Welcome aboard! That's a fine tractor and no doubt you'll have many hours of productive work (code for enjoyment) in the saddle. When you get a moment please fill out your profile - it helps us respond to your future posts with more relevant commments. The guys (and gals) here are nuts for pictures, so bust out the camera and start snappin'.

Happy motoring-

Jim

John Deere, Kubota or whatever, they are all recipes for enjoyment and stress relief and then you end up with a lot of productive work done. Enjoy and congratulations. Did anyone mention PICTURES!

Congrats on the new tractor! I'm interested in your geothermal system, could you please provide more information on that? Thanks.

Darn it.....I thought the topic title of this thread , mean't we were going to get a paid holiday called "Tractor Day" that would honour the impacts the tractor has made on society !

Oh well congrats on the new tractor today ! You have now entered the world of " but I just need this for my tractor honey"

I could use one of these paid holidays for seat time! Been having trouble getting some recently w/ the kids games, work etc... Anyway congrats on the new tractor. I too have a 2620 and love it, I think this will be the perfect fit for your property description. Good Luck

Hey all!

Well she showed up on thursday and I've been having to much fun.....I mean doing to much work and forgot to take pics. The fact that this is my first tractor means I am completely inexperienced and everything I do on it is a learning (trial & error) experience. I have used the box blade in the pasture that needs grading and am starting to get the hang of it. I have managed to get it stuck in a soft/wet part of the pasture and then unstuck (never want to do that again....). Sorry for no pics but tomorrow it gets a bath and then I will snap away and post pics of the new addtion.

Sorry for not getting pics on sooner. Been having way to much fun.

I've since picked up a used phd and finishing mower. Managed to rack up about 16 hours in a month and the tractor has been worth every penny.

Some of you were asking about the geothermal furnace (water furnace). We installed a 6 ton horizontal loop with about 3600 feet of pipe last november. The loop was installed in the pasture about 150-200 feet away from the house. The pipe from the house to the pasture as installed using a directional driller (see pics). This guy usually installs fibre optic under existing infrastructure and this saved a pile of landscaping and cost. The geo heats and cools our century home through conventional forced air means but at a lower average air temp. Natural gas air is heated to about 120F but geo air is only 95-100F. Therefore you need to move substantially more air. The unit works great and kept up with our heating demands without ever using the auxilliary electric heat backup. After the install, the pasture was a mess and I convinced the boss that a Kubota would make short work of that. I'm sure that an experienced operator would be done buy now but I have a steep learning curve and am enjoying the experience. It is going well but slowly.

BTW, what is everyones opinion on digging the frost walls etc for a garage with this tractor and a BH65. I dont have the backhoe yet but I had planned on getting it next spring and starting on the garage. The garage will be about 50x30 with 4 foot frost walls. Does this seem like a reasonable task for this tractor and an inexperienced but willing operator?
