Long 445
Hi I'm new to this site, I have a universal 445 that I have owned for a few years now, have had the high pressure fuel pump rebuilt and new injectors, fuel tank was drained and cleaned new fuel filters and lines. Now I am having a problem with it after running it for a few hours it's rpms go up and then it dies. After which it won't start again for a day or so. Have bled the fuel lines again that didn't help. All my fittings are tight new fuel in tank. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

When it died the last time and you tried to bleed the lines, was their any air in the lines?

No I did not it's been to cold here for anything, will be checking that this weekend when warmer.

Trying to figure out if its cold related. If it is cold temp related then maybe the fuel is gelling.

At any time when it died prior was there air in the lines?
Why replace the injectors, pump and clean the tank?

It has done it only in the winter months, and I use an additive for the winter from my local tractor dealer.

The last time it did it and I bleed the lines their was no air in them (although I just got a manual for it and I didn't bleed it in the right order)

Had to change injectors because the previous owner had 3 different types, had the pump pressure tested and it was only at 70% and the tank was because the valve was leaking.

Only doing it in the winter months then I'm still thinking the diesel is gelling. Being in Canada the temps may require a little more kerosene or other additive, but before adding need more inspection.

Next time it does it, remove the fuel filter and see what the diesel looks like

As the tractor is being used does it start loosing power a little bit over time?

My filters have a clear bowl on them never seamed bad.

As for the power it always does it when I'm driving and not working it haven't noticed power loss just the faster rpm then boggs out and dies, then it will not start again for a long time.

I'm going to be bleeding the system this weekend and will run it and pay a little bit more attention for the power loss. Thanks for your help so far AllDodge greatly appreciated.

So I bleed the system and their was air in the system, it started after that but only ran for 20minutes then died. I never noticed any lack of power, I did add some fuel conditioning. I have also checked all the fuel fittings.

If its gelling then when filter is removed you can see chunks (not real chunks but not liquid)

If its not gelling and from what your saying your getting air in the lines. Why it does it only when cold, don't know, maybe the lift pump is weak.
