A friend and I had his TO-20 out grading his drive. Sudenly there was Woosh! Flames emerged from under the hood, ie the gas tank! For some reason, it went out on it's own in 30 sec.
After a quick change of pants we looked under the hood. The battery had slid untill it touched the hood. With the hing pins and rubber pads long gone, the hood actully was touching the gas cap. the connection was a dead short. Even the tangs on the gas cap melted due to the current flow.
Needless to say, the battery was seccured after that.
Diesel for me now!!
