Tractor flip overs and wheelie bars

/ Tractor flip overs and wheelie bars #21
My two cents is that Soundguy is right. The boxblade will stop a rear roll most if the time if not all of the time. At least with my equipment. How do I know? I, hmm hmm, tested it.

When I first got the tractor, maybe with 20 hours on the clock, I took out a grade 70 chain, hooked it to or over the box blade and then to a huge pine stump. I KNEW THIS WAS A bad Bad BAD thing to do but I figured the box blade was back there, I'm not Not NOT going to get a running start, I just want to gently pull and see what happens.....

I put the tractor in low range, first gear, turned on MWFD, locked the differential, moved the box blade an inch or so off the ground and let out the clutch!

The front end came off the ground about 7,212 feet, give or take, my butt did both a pucker and a release, my left foot hit the clutch while the right foot hit the brake, the right hand hit the throttle, left hand hit the three gear selectors to neutral, my heart tried to escape via my mouth which was good because I was screaming OHHHHH Sh..............T!:D:D:D:)

I KNEW I should not do this.
I would be careful said I.
I did it anyway.
I WILL NEVER EVER EVER do it again. :)

The leason learned was:
- the box blade will stop the rollover.
- dont do what you know is wrong, Dumb A...s.
- rear roll overs really do happen fast.
- the front end moving off the ground a few inches feels like a mile.
- it takes no time to raise the box blade so the chain can be thown under the implement to the draw bar. I ain't reaching under a raised box blade. I ain't that dumb. :D
- pine stumps dont move but tractors do. :)

That stump require a hole about 6 feet deep before I could break the root with the backhoe. It took two work days in the mud to get it out.

I can't remember if I tried to dig the thing out before pulling or just wanted to see the JD Pulling Power!

Later,
Dan
