Docs and Slamfire thanks for the inputs. I think I am getting close to a decision with a tractor in the 40 hp range and under 17K without the FEL. I may opt for a FEL since I have read so many good things about them here. Thanks for the info on the tree blind dock and I am on my way to check it out now. Happy tractoring

I was at the same point you are when I purchased in regards to the FEL. Its a fair expense but trust me when I say I now use my FEL over 70% of the hours on my tractor. Moveing dirt, Firewood, brush, road material, getting the Big Buck from point a-b and in the truck, Digging stumps, moveing fertilizers, lime etc etc etc. The FEL was one of the best purchases I have ever made. What ever you decide try to put some photos up for us once your in buisiness. I only went with a smaller machine due to hauling mine back and forth from camp to home, 300 miles. The tractor stays at home in the winter as I now move snow with the FEL. I look forward to snow storms now /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Dave

Dave I will sure send some pics when I get them and I have built a log cabin on my site that is approx 30 acres of fields and 90 acres of woods. I am only planning on planting a small part of the 30 acres and will keep the area around the log cabin cut maybe 2-3 acres. I have the luxury of not having to haul my tractor so was looking for a little bigger tractor that could do a lot of the tilling and plowing work. When you are ready to build your cabin let me know and I will answer any questions you have. I found a great log cabin builder in PA and he did an excellent job . Keep the posts coming. Paul

Paul, if you didn't find it the blind is at www.MustangFiberglass.com The owner is terry Wells. Hold on to your wallet though because ther are $$$$$$ . BUT, They lock, are maintenance free, air tight, Window awneings, TOP quality windows much nicer than the usual sliders. I went with one due to the fact that they have options for stairs and railings Vs Ladders. Even has a porch. The one shown is the larger one. If I was never going to tow my tractor I would have bought a JD4610. At the time I was shopping a dealer here had one for 23k Tax tag loader. Its tough to balance enough HP with out being too large for the woods or to small to do the jobs you want. The best advice if you do not have a lot of saddle time is TEST drives, Test Drives, Test Drives. This is the fun part any how, You know driveing before you pay /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Are you going with a gear model or Hydro ? Hope to build a cabin in the next three years. Would love to hear about your builder. Dave

Look in the century-branson posts and see my review on my century 3045, Its a 40 pto-hp TRACTOR with fel loaded tires, quickchange bucket, duel remotes, plus other things that are options that I got for less that 17,000. It is the best bang for your buck. I have planted several food plots here and it will do anything I have asked of it. Do a search for century 3045 review

Just wondering WHO is the log cabin guy? I'm in the looking stages as my 23 acres is about 80% wooded and rest is grass to mow. I've got small house & barn going up now, with 28 HP tractor (import) JINMA284 with FEL, Backhoe RFM TAILLER and box blade, looking for rotary and rock rakes now. I have less than 15K invested in all that equipment. got mine from "www.pumamachine.com"
dealer of import tractors in jersey. (i shouldn't say "IMPORT" as ALL of them under 40 PTO HP are made out side USA now.) Sure it may be "greene" but was made elsewhere and some what assembled here, well mine was made else where and just as assembled here! but hey I only spent 13K for all the import stuff.
