My PT is still new, so I have not really looked into any modification info as of yet. I am thinking the Mini Hoe would mount to the 180.

To me it would make sense for Power Trac to make the attachment plates to fit both. I could be wrong. I'm sure someone on here will chime in on that if I am.

If not, maybe give Terry a call. I believe the main hydraulic pump on the 180 is 2000 GPM vs 2500 for the 400 series.

I doubt they'd do it [they have a safety interlock on the electric], but it may be worth asking if they'd let you custom order it with a 2spool manual valve instead of the electric valve.

That would give you enough hydraulics for the minihoe and would allow you to reverse implements not to mention easier attaching. You'd want 3 position spring centers w/ a locking ON on 4th position (for motor attachments) on one of them. The only down side is that you'd want cylinder spools for the BH, so you wouldn't want to just let it "snap" back to center when turning off motors.

The one I put in has a locking float position for my front hydraulics which makes a great "motor spool" position, but then you need a slide bar to set the speed for motors [not a bad thing, just one more step /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif ]. I used a locking ON 4th postion spool for my rear hydraulics (not applicable to (1)4XXs).

Unfortunately the 180 QA plate is smaller than the 4xx series. It is the exact same design just smaller. Where the 4xx series has hydraulic controlled locking pins for the QA plate (by use of the aux PTO others have mentioned) the 180 is spring loaded. These are manually lifted (against the spring tension) and twisted against a lip to hold them in the up or unlocked position.

I noticed you had the 4-n-1 listed on your wish list. That is another attachment that uses the aux PTO the 180 doesn't have. That's something to think about also, any attachment requiring the extra circuit is not available for the 180 so you won't find a mini-hoe, grapple bucket, 4-n-1, etc. Since the plates are different even if you add a valve you have to make or modify each of these for a 180.

You may have seen in other threads talk about making a PT QA to Bobcat adapter. Making a 180 to 4xx adapter would be very easy compared to that. Really just building a 4xx plate to "slip" over the 180 one to enlarge it and rigging up the pins to extend further down.

I would not give up yet on your idea of the 180 providing all the muscle you need. If there are certain things that you need to do, think about other ways to do it. As for digging stumps and trenching, I built a small bucket that would accomplish both. If you look at a post called "post trenching trench cleanout" dated 4/3/06 - I have three posts on page 7 of that discussion which have pictures of my bucket. This is an option without the need to get the 422 and minihoe.
