Tractor Hours/Year

I hate pulling pins so most of the tractors stay hooked up to their dedicated piece equipment year round.lol

Exactly why I bought the second M9 but used. Some of the hay tool I use are heavy and hooking up all the hydraulics and computer interfaces are a pita so I leave the heavy implements attached. Saves my old back and patience as well.

Ever wonder how many hours per year people put on their tractors?
Ours are used mostly for small chores, snow, & landscaping - we don't do anymore mowing or field work.
The newish Kubota's hour meter averages almost 100 hrs/year since 2008. The old one less than 50/year.
It sure seems like more than that.....

It seems like I am on my tractor a LOT, but it’s a 2009 model year, or at least that’s the year I bought it new, and I just had it hauled in for a full fluid change, and rad hose replacement, (I’m finding I have more cash than energy these days @ 72) And it only has a tad more than 600 hours on it in 16 years.

Not really sure how I managed without it for most of my life

Small property (6 acres) and small machine (X585), I'm averaging 60 hours per year mowing a half-acre lawn, hauling firewood, moving stone, grading, and snow blowing.

My YM2610 came with 14xx hours on the meter from 1981 to 2014.
33 years averaging about 42.5 hours years.

I've put on 500 hours since then. 2014 to 2024. So 50 hours average per year.

Now, I do not run the engine nor PTO to it's fullest for all my work. I know I have double the time on the machine, but I use PTO speed-2 and tune down the engine rpms to hit PTO 480-500 rpms when mowing. Less wear and tear overall.

Thus, the average would be about 100 hours per year.

I have 4 tractors 1 Ford 600 that one gets about 50 hours a year tedding Hay and running a cut off saw and 3 different Kubota tractors that each get 50-100 hours each.

I bought a JD 5075e with 139 hours in 2019 to replace our aging JD 2240. It now has a whopping 245 hours on it. Why? Mostly for shredding pastures and road maintenance and we have been in drought much of that time.

What gets the most use is our Bobcat S650 skidsteer that we bought new in 2011. It has 1850 hours on it, added about 250 in 2024. Most of the hours are clearing mesquite and cedar, some are hauling round bales, carrying heavy pallet like things, some dirt work, etc.

I did most everything with my 1972 MF135, it had over 3,7xx hrs on the clock when I sold it last year.
My 2002 MF 451 has 561 hrs on the clock.
Did it win anything?

Tractor hours can be deceiving. My 2 year-old Kubota L6060 has 384 hours on the clock and about half of that was spinning a PTO generator. Much easier duty than moving material with the FEL bucket or using the backhoe.

My 2009 Kubota L3400 has 230 hrs, most of which are from running my wood chipper. I'd hate to know how hard it'd be to do without it.
