This tractor is almost certainly a Leyland 154. Used to be known as the BMC Mini Tractor and was painted orange. After becoming the Blue Leyland it bacame the Marshall 302 and was painted yellow. Was mostly made in the UK but towards the end of its production run it was made in Turkey if my memory serves me correctly. Heres a website dedicated to it. http://www.bmcminitractor.co.uk/

What a shame there were no pics on this site. One would think that would be a major part of a site dedicated to a tractor model. John
EDIT: these pics don't exactly match the one the poster posted. If it IS a Leyland, I would love to find a pic that matches. J

John,

The major difference is the headlights. But I do know that Leyland did make different versions of the front end. My bet it is a Leyland maybe even made for someone else. I did a search for Leyland but could not come up with many pics. Some of the larger ones with cabs had the lights on the fenders. Tractor data had some information and if the original poster would take some data off the engine for example we could probably pin it down better.

Found 13 pics over at ytmag, but none of them had the air breather coming up through the hood like this one does. Most had an exhaust stack there. The sheet metal looks the same. Most had headlights in the grill, whereas this one has no openings in the grill. The light I do see on the side engine cover is aftermarket.

I found on one site that Leyland tractors were originally made by Nuffield until 1969 when they changed to the Leyland name. But I also can find ads for 1965 Leylands by using Google /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I think EnglishBob may have it with the BMC. I recognized those initials from my last photo (attached). Now with all the great help I have had from everyone here on TBN I'm going to scrape around on the engine and see if I can find another tag or ID plate that might give me the year. bty I'm in central Florida and the Oz is in reference to the name of my airfield "Osborn Airfield". Open invitation for anyone interested in flying, and thanks again for all the help.

JonOZ, nice to see another mystery solved. But I have to tell you that your post really had me doing some digging on the interent because I was totally unfamiliar with the brand and I am **** enough that if I find something I don't know anything about, I need to dig into it. Unfortunately, I didn't find much. I found some history, but mostly I hit dead ends. It appears that Leyland exited the tractor market, their current website shows trucks, busses, etc. By the way, welcome to TBN. So now I have a question for you. Does the tractor run?

EnglishBob . . . glad to have you on TBN. Can't have enough Bob's here! And you obviously know your stuff so we may be counting on you for future refrences of brands.

This little tractor purrs like a kitten. I had to weld together an exhaust pipe with the new TIG welder I got from Santa (Gotta Love Santa, she always knows what I want). That got me to thinking where I might find parts for this little mystery tractor when I need them. Now I have a starting point, which is more than I had before I found TBN. Thanks again everyone.
