Tractor in Cold/Snow

   / Tractor in Cold/Snow #31
I agree. My L3830 will start in -20 too....but it likes it a lot more when it's plugged in. I had a block heater installed the other day on the L39 and I'll use it. Initial start-up wear is most pronounced when the engine oil (non-synthetic) is like sludge (10 degrees and below). Why not plug it in and at least give it a fighting chance if you live in NE in conditions like ours?...especially if it's been sitting for long periods of time and it totally dry. I plug mine in if there is a storm predicted and it's cold or I know I want to use it......Yes, it will start no problem, but at what cost to the engine.

.... Porsche uses pre-oilers to give everything a bath just as the key is turned moments before ignition. I wonder why..... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
