Homeowners will typically cover the perils listed on your policy like fire, theft, vandalism but will not cover damage you do to your tractor while using it like if you roll it over. If you crash it into your house, the insurance will cover the damage to your house but not the damage to the tractor. Homeowner's also doesn't follow the tractor if it leaves your property or even if it is on your trailer bringing it to a dealer for service.
In my case I was looking for non-commercial insurance that would cover the tractor entirely (except mechanical breakdown) while on my property and if I took it to a relative's property. State Farm was the best one I found that could do it. They do it with a "personal articles" policy and it covers everything on the tractor similar to how comprehensive coverage on a car works, subject to whatever deductible you pick. The personal articles policy also follows the tractor wherever it is so if it falls off your trailer you're covered, stolen from your brother's yard, covered. The personal articles policy doesn't give any liability coverage though, so if you damage your neighbor's property while helping them or if you run over your neighbor's foot then you're not covered.
Cost on the personal articles policy is entirely tied to the value you're insuring and the deductible you pick. I have $40k of coverage and with a ZERO deductible it was just under $500 for the year. With a $500 deductible it would be in the $375 range.
