RobertN,
Thanks for the ref - gotcha. Have seen these before, just didn't know the terminology. Sorta looks like a trackhoe mated with a skid steer, and, viola.
I could use a clam-shell, but frankly the problem would be the weight it could lift. Plus big bucks price wise (at least for me). The emply clam-shell weighs 700-800 pounds empty (if I remember correctly). That would only leave 1000 pounds max for lift (and require a real heavy counter weight).
I think all CUT loaders (at least the majors) offer a skid steer compatable mount for the loader arms and not too expensive considering the extra flexibility since you can use almost any skid steer implement. Literally takes less than a minute to drop the bucket, hook up pallet forks (or whatevery) But you already know how handy the skid steer hook up is. The switch hitch is really spiffy - let's you hook up 3pt implements, move trailer's around etc. I don't have much room right now, and with the ball on the switch hitch I can park the gooseneck trailer anyplace (lot's easier than with the truck).
Anyway, thanks for the terminology info.

PS Hate to tell you this, but no matter how much HP you have, there are times when you could always use more. Guess that's the way it goes. Every time I use the BH, wish I had something that could handle a bigger (longer) hoe. I suspect you can do about anything with your KUB, just takes a bit longer, etc. The psi with R4s isn't too bad (though nothing like the tracked ones). Bet your KUB is probably less than 20 psi (M/L). That's a pretty lite footprint.
