Tractor or Zero-Turn?

Update on tractor turning radius.

When I conducted my turning radius test yesterday I forgot that the rear tread width is different on each of the tractor models and could be changed to meet certain situations. So today I used the edge of the mid-mount mower deck as a reference to compair each tractor model. All tractors had a 60" mower. The area in the center of the turn not covered by the mower deck will be the trim radius.

B2410 in 4WD Bi-speed on - 46" (no wheel spin)

B2410 in 4WD Bi-speed off - 62" (Left rubber on concrete)

B2410 in 2WD - 54"

B2710 in 2WD - 60"

BX2200 in 2WD - 62"

BX2200 in 4WD - 88" (left rubber on concrete)

I hope this helps.

hey roybuck,
go with the bx. i had a grasshopper ZTR and traded it for the bx. i weld for a large tree nusery for free trees and have planted more than 8000 dollars worth in the last 3 years. i have alot of things to cut around and i doesnt bother me at all. the bx has a pretty tight turning rad and with the hydrastatic and power steering it isnt any problem to backup and cut the wheel to make the turn. if i had more land i would have bought the b2410. i wouldnt even consider the b7500 cause i think it isnt any more tractor than the bx for the extra cost. the differnece is alot of implements for the bx. but back to the initial question, i like the bx better than the ZTR i had for 5 years. if you hate cutting grass and doing yard work get the ZTR cause you can get the cutting done and be done with it. the ZTR is a fun machine and makes grass cutting more enjoyable for someone who doesnt like it. but it sounds to me that you like yard work. good luck

I had that same problem when i first started..I settled on a Woods ztr mower with a 60" deck to mow around the trees and house..Then I purchashed a John Deere 4300 to mow out in the open areas.An hour an fifteen minutes later we have our 5 acres mowed.And with the Woods mower ...Very little trimming.But I am lucky to have the better half run the Woods..Man you don't want to try to get her off the thing either! She claims that it is her mower, aand tells me to stay off it.Just stand back and watch the grass fly!!!!!

Doug,

What do you have on that JD4300... an after burner? /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif What gear do you mow in?

I hogged 11 acres a few days ago, really moving @ 4 - 5 ½ mph... and it took me about 3 ½ hrs! {that's with a 6' rotary cutter...}

Wow! /w3tcompact/icons/blush.gif

No afterburner, but we are mowing 11 feet at a whack with the 2 mowers going..That is, 5 ft on the Woods ztr, and 6 ft on the 4300 with a bush hog ath 720 . I mow in "b" range at about 6 mph. That gets it done in a hurry!
