Tractor PTO Generator Sets

Howdy,
With a central farm meter and distribution from there, I use a 30kw PTO generator with a 90,000 watt surge. Larger tractor with 540/540e/1000 pto. The tractor running at 540e, means the PTO shaft is 540rpm and the tractor is about 1610rpm on the engine (just a nice slow diesel sipping speed) Powers wells, barns, house, shop, run-in sheds. This will run 24/7 as needed. Because of the tractor size, and the genset size, the power generation is maintained right at 60Hz, and 240volts no matter what load.

Thats a very conservative run rating for that much surge. That things bound to be able to sustain 60KW for minutes!

It might be over built. Tiger Power 30k pto generator. 1800rpm genset which looks overbuilt compared to others which I have seen.

Sounds nice, so the pto is 3 speed? I don't get the 540e, is the e for economy?

SOME MACHINES HAVE 2-3 PTO SETTINGS EITHER FOR HIGHER RPM IMPLEMENTS, OR AN ECONOMY 540 WHEN LESS HP IS NEEDED.

Yes, JD 6430 with shiftable PTO. 540 / 540e / 1000. The 540 speed will have the engine moving along at its standard 2200 rpm. With the unit in 540e, the engine is purring along at about 1610rpm. It is my larger tractor, but with it having the 540e capability, it actually uses less fuel than my JD 5500. The next smallest tractor is a JD 4720, but the engine moves along at 3600rpm for 540 pto operation. So what I have going on is overkill in 2 ways. The tractor is 130hp, the pto generator is 30kw. Even at maximum use of 30kw, that still only requires a tractor with 60hp.
