Tractor Radios..Which One??

I have the yellow digital worktunes for 2-3 years now use them when mowing on a garden tractor. They do cut fatigue vs no ear protection & are mobile, sometimes forgetting to take them off.

5 years with a REI fender mount radio mounted on a Gator.

4 years with a roof mount REI connected to a noise reduction headset mounted in a skidloader, only problem is wires take a beating. The hyd screech is effectively muted with this setup.

7 yrs with a cheap wal-mart radio mounted in my cab utility tractor.

Quite an array there. So tell me, how was the AM reception on the REI's? I'm still waiting to find out about that.

1gb beat and battered mp3 player & over the ear earbuds so they don't fall out.

I have a set of WorkTunes...The reception is horrible where I live. I can listen to a few stations, but not the ones I like (I use them on the BX). I put a 400 watt Kenwood in the RTV, the reception is outstanding...The speakers are another issue:mad:...Gotta replace them.

I have a fender mounted AM/FM radio on my tractor and use it almost everytime the tractor is turned on. I've never noticed a need for hearing protection (although I usually wear my Worktunes earmuffs when I'm on my dozer) on the tractor. I've had to change the radio itself once. Last fall I added a Sirius radio to the tractor. I bolted a plastic tool box to the ROPS upright and made a bracket to hold my Sirius Stilleto (sp?). I've got a vehicle antenna stuck to the ROPS (magnet) and added a 12v power supply. All I do now is plug the Stilleto into the tool box (that way it can be shut all the time except when I change stations to protect it from rain/dust/etc. I use it all time every week during NFL and college football season. Bushhogging and listening to football games is pretty much my favorite part of the fall.

Good luck and take care.

Looking at radios for my new tractor(B3030), has anyone tried the Jensen compact radio setup? looks like alot of hole drilling to mount it, the speakers and antenna. The Tractor Tunes ROPS setup is nice but I don't think it would like tree limbs very well, and its expensive. The Roll Cover setups are ok but what about radio quality in these units? What are you guys using?

I apoligize for my absence but I have had a sick child, I did get my new B3030 that I was waiting on. I added the ROPS Tractor Tunes, So far it has been a really nice setup. I only have 6.4 hrs. on the tractor and time will tell if it was worth the money. I will post some pictures when I can. Thanks, Bret

Perhaps I am a simpleton, but all I use is a Ipod nano loaded with all of my favorite music. On my 8 GB, I've got over 3000 songs and over 5000 on my 16GB. I bought some ear buds that have a plastic piece that goes over my ear to help hold them in. I put the Ipod in my shirt pocket or on an arm band, its light in weight and the battery last 6 to 8 hours. You can use whatever type of muff over them with no problem. JMO

I often think of how I ever ran my :tractor: without TUNES :dance1:

I own and operate a bunch of different equipment so one radio is impractical. I use the MP3 WorkTunes . The reception could be better and when its hot your ears swet inside them other then that I'm pretty happy !
