Tractor safety video - NH TN65 test

Bird ... I didn't look at the videos, but agree that most would not have time to jump off a tractor once its weight started to move.

I think the best thing to do, assuming you're belted in, just stay put, keep extremities tucked in, let the safety equipment (belt and ROPS) do what they were intended to do and hope for the best.

Recently I decided AGAINST sending my TSEK plans to Henro for ideas. (TSEK = Tractor Seat Ejector Kit)

Boy am I glad!

Might cramp my style since I am in the process of building a "head protector" for my B2910...

Ejector seat + non-opening lid = OUCH! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

"I right clicked on the links and downloaded several of the full movies. When I played them straight from my hard drive, they were much quicker. "

I'd downloaded them for viewing too. I suspect download speed (if you're watching online) might be the culprit here.
Since I'd only viewed (after dowloading) two of the side rolls, I cannot comment on the rear roll-overs (other then the ROPS did it's job).
However, those side rolls took 2-3 seconds. That might be enough time to ensure your body is within the envelope of the ROPS, but sure isn't time enogh to climb and jump upside of a tractor side rolling down slope. In the film showing the dummy sans seatbelt, it was under the tractor before the tractor was ½ over.
I'm sure one could derive the times that that happened in this controlled roll-over..but in real life, it just wouldn't be adeequate time to get off upslope.

My primary reason for sharing these videos with you good folks is this....when I was 5 years old on my grandfather's farm, I used to let the tire tread of a John Deere "B" rub up against my butt. Next thing I remember is feeling/hearing a crushing sound. It was me!! The tire rolled over my chest and my grandfather stopped on the side of my face.

I was taken to the hospital with no broken bones or internal injuries...just tractor tire marks on my chest; oh yes, and my face is still asymmetrical from the weight of the John Deere and I'm now 56 years old.

Believe me...I don't think there's anyone who takes more precaution around farm equipment than me. I NEVER, I mean NEVER...ever let kids near farm equipment.

At least I lived to tell everyone about it.

WOW!!!

I just emailed the site to a friend without ROPS on an old Ford. Not trying to scare him...just to keep him thinking and safe.

Thanks.

My friends all laugh at me when I tell them what happened - although I'm the only one who doesn't laugh. It was really scary. Thought I was going to die.

They wanted to know "if I was trying to guess the weight of a John Deere"...ha..ha..real funny.

Interesting videos, I'll certainly start looking for the seat belt more often.

Anyone note if the tires were filled on teh tractors?

I see this discussion happened over 6 years ago and the link to the video is gone. Would anyone happen to still have a copy of the video. Thanks
